I am not good with uploading pictures, buds are turning yellow and dark yellow. Novice at this. Can't figure out if the tree is ok or what it needs. Are the buds supposed to be yellow, first green then yellow, blossoms falling off some of the buds are very small and dark yellow. Also have peach tree, the branches up top break when dead and look dead, how I have a bunch of beautiful leaves coming at the bottom. Should I cut the top brach off down to the healthy leaves. Not sure what to do

Sean, as long as your Vigoro has micronutrients, that's fine, but I would also hit it with a foliar application of Grow More Citrus Growers Blend. It is something you want in your "citrus arsenal" here in S. California. With all the heavy, cold rains we've experienced in the last 2 years, you're going to run into the same issue I have with citrus in the ground (my soil is mainly DG here in N. San Diego county near the coast): a leaching of micronutrients, especially magnesium. So, start with the Vigoro, but do make a foliar app with some micronutrients. You'll see the difference, promise :-) And Tim's right, no pruning for now. Wait until you obviously need to do some MINOR shaping. Remember, with citrus, pruning equals no fruit. Citrus produce fruit at the tips of their branches, so you're cutting off your next fruit crop when your prune! And Tim's advice about removing suckers is right on. Just break them off if they're soft. If they've hardened off, trim close to the rootstock. Our water isn't too alkaline here in San Diego county - about 7 to 7.6. Fine for citrus. But, for your little guy, acidifying the water with some vinegar and pouring it over the fertilizer may help prevent the micronutrients from getting locked out due to the alkalinity. You guy needs a bit of a rescue. Tim's advice is good. Once recovered, you probably won't need to acidify your water. You can also achieve this with your foliar application - acidifying the water you use to dissolve your Growers Blend in. When you pick up your moisture meter, pick up a decent pH meter (don't buy the cheapest one). It's worth having these in your gardening tools. I've had both my moisture meter and my pH meter for many years. Great tools to have! Patty S.

Hi All, I need some Meyer lemon assistance. I received a dwarf tree in the spring from QVC thru mycitrustree(dot) com. I had some beautiful blossoms in the summer and now have 2 lemons about 3 inches and 3 1/2 long. It was kept outside and watered as needed in addition to Mother Nature. I live in NJ and it was about to dip into the 40's one night so I brought it into my basement two weeks ago. I watered it before I brought it in and it got a soaking rain too. It's in a pot with drain access and it still moist. It has also now begun to bud on all end branch A LOT. My original question is some random leaves are turning yellow. They are not dry or curling and have no pests. The leaf veins are also not turning white. I am a nervous first time fruit tree mother. I did not give any fertilizer since I received it in the spring. How often are you feeding it? I read that too frequent feedings/certain nutrient proportions could result in too much quick vegetative growth with less energies going into fruit development/production and quality of growth (quick and leggy) vrs. stockier and sturdy... but I just got my 1st meyer lemon baby and have only newly embarked on the adventure, there are a lot of experienced lemon lovers on here who can share their practiced knowledge, I look forward to reading their insites myself as a lot of info I've gathered seems to contradict the last source... I have however experienced the negative results of over feeding in a limp and leggy jade plant which while appearing otherwise healthy and happy, was not actually growing as strong as it could have, it's survived but will forever be a straggly specimen... I'd love any tips on keeping my lil'lemons until fully developed. growing on 5 days now, no leaf loss or signs of dismay under massive domed skylight recieving all day slighty filtered light and partial grow light exposure x16hrs, 100% indoors 74°-80° w/ceiling fan 24-7. ~greenirene circa '95 "When life gives you lemons, be grateful!"
