How bad does this look?
Comments (7)From the what you showed us about six feet away I see a white door with white trim. Maybe there's more to the picture, but for the moment I third.... "Paint it!"...See MoreHow bad does this look?
Comments (28)gibby, your kitchens was one of the ones I looked at when trying to decide between white and dark cabinets. I have white trim everywhere except around a bow window which has the same oak trim as the door in question. I know if I change the door, the trim around the window will probably have to be changed as well. holligator, thanks for confirming that I could use 2 different colours on the door and for confirming my thoughts on using black. lukkiirish, thank you! cotehele, I know, but I also know that I am tired of the golden oak and would like to de-oak, just like jiggreen above! Would it look weird if I painted the trim in white, like the rest of the house, but the door in the same brown as the cabinets or would I have to go all chocolate brown? Thanks again for your suggestions....See MoreReality check for me, does this tile job look bad to you?
Comments (34)Today he sent the punch list back with comments and wrote, "Tiles are hand made and grout/caulk lines cannot be consistent due to the way the tiles are manufactured". Just my 2 cents... Integrity issues are where I draw a hard line in these types of arrangements. I am typically willing to make many sacrifices to keep a project moving forward including bearing some of the costs that I rightly shouldn't have to bear and occasionally accepting less than perfect results. However, when a contractor starts lying to me or threatening to quit are things I draw the line at right quick. As for seeing an attorney in these situations, I often advise people to see their attorney to help get a handle on negotiations and legal rights. However, this is not likely a situation that you are going to want to resolve through your attorney. Use your attorney to advise what you should do, and maybe get him to send a demand letter, but don't try to use your attorney to resolve this situation. This is the way a good attorney should direct you anyway. Good luck...See MoreBecause they read soffits were always bad.
Comments (16)I wonder if the counter is real stone or plastic. Anyway, my new kitchen is going to have soffits. I need them for duct work and plumbing. But over the cabinets they are going to be flush to the cabinet or slighly shallower with the top edge of the cabinet overlapping the bottom of the soffit slightly. I understand the objection to big hulking things with large recessed lights in them or whatever, but I would much rather have the top of the cabinet covered than hanging out in space. There have been threads in the Building Forum about what to do in high ceilinged kitchens. Do you really want 7 foot tall upper cabinets because you have a 12 foot ceiling? The no soffit brigade probably says yes....See Morerockybird
