Posting Size in Gardenweb?

On a couple of occasions I have wanted to post somewhat long question that I had written in MS Word so I wouldn't lose it. I found that at least twice, the post wouldn't be accepted and there would be a message to (in my recent case) decrease its length down from 5800 chars. to below 2800. I actually may be off a decimal place here. I don't feel like checking; the point is the post needed to be almost 2/3 shortened.; what's an order of magnitude among friends?

I suppose I could have attempted to break it into 3 posts with indications of following posts in the first two posts. However, for one thing, the char count isn't listed (as far as I can see anyway) as it actually is listed in the header count. However, I just saw a post today that went on forever, so there must be a way to do it. I thought perhaps the length was extra long because the post came from MS Word, and that a directly typed in post would be accepted.

Anyone know what is happening here?
