Re the movie "Fargo". THE ONLY scene actually filmed HERE was the opening home-kidnap scene! Most was filmed in/around Brainerd, MN, and Minneapolis.... Saaayyyyy... Well, although I'm just a small step ahead of you in the building process (getting ready to fund our construction loan) I can say that we've done a lot of research and found that the best product for us, by far, was Washington Mutual. One more thing, it really depends on the construction specialist that you work with, because the first WaMu person we were referred to was, to put it mildly, a flop. We then found Mitzie Sambueno by looking around at homes under construction (she had a lot of signs as she was doing their financing) and in a "Street of Dreams" publication. She has been absolutely wonderful to work with so far! I hope after our project is complete, I will be able to share good feedback about your other questions to others, but for now, I'd suggest at least looking into Washington Mutual to compare rates and terms. Because I work with rivers & streams, I am intimately familiar with their workings. I am a firm believer that NO ONE should be allowed to build in a flood plain, and there is empirical evidence to show that the flood plains need to be expanded as global warming is causing river levels to rise. In 2011 there was a bad flood in one of my areas I regulate, and the people were complaining that someone (government) needed to fix the problem. Others said that since it hadn't flooded in 100 years, they never thought they needed to worry. Sigh. All it takes is looking at aerial photos, and now with Lidar mapping, you can easily see where floodplains should be. And don't get me started on coastal communities! But it all comes down to planning and tax base. Communities built up a hundred plus years ago around water ways, because that was the simplest way for commerce. And it was just natural to build near the existing infrastructure-so fast forward to the last century and this is why we have such horrible urban flooding.

What?? I did not know about the pipeline, although I was aware of their employees creating fake accounts to reach sales goals. I wish I could pull out of WF. My mother has her accounts there and she is too old to think about changing. She wouldn't get it. I have an account there to because of her accounts. I also have an account with another bank. The only reason I keep that one is because there is a branch and ATM near my house that is convenient to use.
