Gurney's- great new fruit trees or just great advertising hype?
Comments (28)Not sure of the value of posting to an 8 year old thread. But before doing any online plant ordering, it is wise to check out the vendor. Gurney's gets terrible ratings from the Garden Watchdog, a mail order/online nursery customer review clearinghouse.....more negative reviews than positives (poor plant quality, dead plants, mislabeling, bad/nonexistant customer service). With fruit trees in particular, it is important to know which types of fruits and which varieties of those fruits will do well in your climate. And typically that information is best obtained from local suppliers or growers. Or your county extension service....See MoreI have some great news!!!

Comments (12)How gratifying for the parents, to have a healthy baby! I'm not sure if the child required a blood transfusion, but this incident reminded me that, as a new blood donor, I recently received a reminder in the mail about the importance of donating blood. It literally can be a lifesaver and an eye opener as to how much transfused blood is often required to restore health....See MoreHave to share my great new hair stylist
Comments (21)I agree with Leela that hair stylists are some of the most undervalued professionals around. I almost posted a while back about my experience trying to find a new stylist. I've gone to the same stylist "B" for years, I love the way she cuts my hair and I never have any settling in period. I followed her from the Aveda salon where I first met her to her own salon when she opened it. But B's new salon uses Redken products which I despise. Thinking it might be time to find someone else, I talked to the Aveda girl who does my waxing - she always has great hair. I made an appointment with the girl she recommended at the Aveda salon - and it was a disaster. I was horrified. All I could think was that I looked like I had a mullet. I had to slink back to B and tell her what I had done. I have a hair appointment tonight, the second one after the 'disaster cut' and hopefully the damage will finally be completely corrected & no longer noticeable. B knows I struggle with the scent of the Redken products and she uses as little as possible, but just being there for 2 hours can be an ordeal for me and I normally leave with nausea and / or a headache. I can smell the Redken shampoo on my hair for 2 or 3 days even with daily washings. So I'm back where I started except now I'm even more hesitant to try another stylist. I'll probably stick with B for now, even if it means I have to deal with the repercussions - - maybe I can wear a gas mask while I'm there (haha). How vain is that....See More
