DH's 40th bday-need ideas
Comments (28)Well, guys, it's Sunday night and I didn't make it to the house one time this weekend. I slept late both days and walked 3 miles in a walk a thon for diabetes research today. Moving a little felt good. I used to walk 5 miles a day, back in the good old days. I really need to make time to do that more often. I am a little more rested and actually feeling almost normal, but unfortunately it is back to work tomorrow and the insulation is nowhere close to finished. That's ok because I can't get the srocker there anyway. Jodie, each little thing that gets finished helps me envision actually living there. DH and I are killing ourselves together at the house, so if I am at the house he usually is too. We had a heart to heart and he is actually being much more supportive during my breakdown. Nancy in Mich, I think I am going to do exactly as you suggested. I ordered appliances about 2 hours away and some couldn't be delivered, so I have to pick them up. I think I am going to take a friend with me and hide in a hotel for the weekend when they come in. That should be any day now. Thanks, everyone. I was really cracking last week. I don't know why everything was getting to me. I always have a lot on my plate. I'm the girl that did her student teaching pregnant and went back to finish when dd was 11 days old. I knew she was sleeping the whole time I was gone and it was then or never. I'm a glutton for punishment. Anyway, I know I'm doing way too much, but it's not like I've never been busier. I'm usually a lot stronger than this. I just don't know why I am losing it mentally now of all times. Amyway thanks for all the support during my nervous breakdown. I hope it is over, although this has happened 20 times in the last month. I cry at the drop of a hat. I'm going to bed now, hopefully to avoid breakdown #368....See MoreTGIF 1-18-08 hope everyone is surviving the cold
Comments (23)Well, it's not SO cold here, about 18F, a high of 12F for tomorrow and Sunday, lows below zero. Snow today, tomorrow, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, LOL, welcome to Michigan! Good thing I love it. (grin) Woodie, I might bake some oatmeal cookies myself and take some to Dad. Yes, I take leftovers to Amanda and to Dad, LOL. Stacie, hug that new baby for me. At least your brother can call you! Pixiestix, you're colder than we are. Better bake something. Work on your next contest, or something.... Nancy, put on those sweats. Mine are Carhartts, nice and warm. Fashionable for Michigan too, LOL. Lori, I'll cheer for the Patriots, just for you. So, how much stuff do you have to cook to feed all those boys? Michael, you need a break, you're starting to sound a bit strained. Take care of yourself, will you? Diane, robins? Maybe they can wear some of those old sweaters. (grin) Pam, let's not talk about Christmas decorations, OK? I finally got the lights off the front porch and just realized this morning that I still have a Santa doormat in front of the door. Sigh. I'll be finding stuff until Easter. Maggie, better you than me on those blinds. I completely lack the decorator gene, I just paint everything white! Stacy, that's a good idea, check out camping cabins and think about summer. I love seeing those eagles, we have a pair that nest near the farm but they're elusive. Gina, Florida has better beaches? So I don't need to bring a swimsuit when I come to California? chase, I hope you only get snowed in with people you'd like to be snowed in with! Lee, you're right. Gina needs to post a foot shot... Linda, pile on the wood, it's going to be cold for a while. A bridal shower? You're getting married again? LOL I'm intending to use tomorrow as a cooking day. I want to make some meatballs for Amanda's freezer. (ground beef out of my freezer and into hers, and voila!! I might have some freezer space again) Orange marmalade is on the agenda too, peaches are 99 cents a pound at the grocery store, if they taste good, maybe some sugar free peach syrup for Dad's pancakes. Sunday is the farm and it'll be cold, so nothing will have been done. I'll need to bundle up to fill tanks and hay feeders, feed chickens, fill bird feeders. Monday I'm off work, it's one of those "government holidays". Amanda has Old Navy gift cards and there are 75% off sales right now, so I'm taking her shopping, then hitting Marshall's for dish shopping (like I need any) and then Chuck E. Cheese for lunch. Tuesday I'm still off work. Dad's having surgery on his "good leg", they're going to try to open up some veins to improve his circulation. He's got some diabetic ulcers that won't heal and he's having problems with the artificial knee in that leg. Sigh. He has to be in Grand Rapids at 5:30 a.m. and wants me to drive him, so I have to be at his house at 4 a.m. elery is taking a vacation day from work to come along and keep me company (and keep my sister and stepmom from driving me insane, LOL). So, clink to everyone here, and think some good thoughts for Dad, if you will be so kind. Annie...See MoreAnyone Been at the Receiving End of a Surprise Party?
Comments (20)Nope, not me! I actually LOVE entertaining and having parties. We recently went to a surprise 50th BDay party for a friend and I told my DH, do NOT ever surprise me with a party. I like to plan my parties, do the food, do the invitations, etc. For me, all that stuff is half the fun of the party! I would not be happy at the idea of all those people knowing the "secret" and planning without me. I have GIVEN a surprise baby shower before. A long time ago. And it turned out great. But shortly afterwards, in retrospect, it occured to me that it would have been better if she knew. And I will also say that of all the surprise parties I've been to, only a very small percentage of the guests of honor didn't somehow find out in advance. Guess I'm sort of a surprise party spoil sport! LOL...See MoreWhat to do?
Comments (35)love, I'm not trying to be sexist, but throughout the years whenever my kids attended birthday parties with kids from school, I cannot remember one time that a father hosted or was present at the party. I'm not saying it doesn't happen & I know that my kids were raised by me 100% so of course, their dad's were never there... but usually it's the mom that is into parties and stuff. I don't know about anyone else, but that has been my experience. In fact, as I'm writing this I am thinking back to when I lived with my exBF... any parties for his kids where school kids were invited, he was always at work. He would celebrate with family but never came to the ones where it was a bunch of kids. Okay, I have to admit, now that I am thinking about it, last year DH was there for SD's party but it was at our home and his nephew was one of the kids but he was the only guy there. He ended up sticking at the BBQ all day and running around, not really AT the party. I just wouldn't think most guys would be that interested in a kid party. I could be wrong. Hope it goes well no matter what happens....See MoreFun2BHere
