i need a FIERCE shower head for master bath
Comments (3)I have LONG THICK hair...and I LOVE our shower head. It's a rainshower type, but so strong I don't ever put it on full stregnth and it's always enough flow to handle a good shampooing. (Is that a word? heh heh) Anyhoo, We've been using it for about six months and both DH and I love it. For a more focused rinse it also has a hand held sprayer (which I love for washing down the shower). I bought mine from Signature Hardware. (I've provided the link to the exact same one we have which is also thermostatic) Great service, fabulous products! I think you'd love it and it comes in several finishes. Comments (9)One thing you might like to consider is what I did: no wall-mount shower head at all and only the hand-held shower head on a bar. This would be a way to save money, too. I had this at my old house in both the master bath and the kids' bath, and I did it again in my new house when we renovated. I really like having the hand-held for washing the walls, not just for the weekly scrub, but for rinsing after every use to get the soap off and prevent scum from forming. I also like it for washing intimate areas and the kids' hair, and it's nice to have the shower head height adjustable on a bar if any children will ever use your shower. I have never missed having a regular wall-mount shower head. I have used Grohe and Hansgrohe shower heads. One warning about the rain shower head is that some people have complained that they have insufficient force to rinse out thick hair. I have never used one, but you might look on the forum....See MoreConverting Tub/Shower Combo to Dual head shower
Comments (3)cwalen, we're in a converted industrial warehouse building with concrete floors, so we didn't have much choice --- we had to build the floor up a little so the drain (we used a linear drain, which needs less buildup than a regular drain) wouldn't stick up. Then we built a curb which is tiled. We have not done a door at all yet -- just a shower curtain. I like the curtain, it looks great and it's easy to clean. No leaking as long as the curtain is closed. I don't seem to have a decent picture on my computer, but if you need pix, I'd be happy to take some tonight....See MoreRain shower head placement in master bathroom
Comments (6)I am in process of designing a shower with the same dimensions and questions. Same drain plan. Preliminary decision is to go with Kohler's hydrorail shower system which is exposed, includes the handheld diverter and supports a rain shower head on the 18" extension. That puts someone showering between 18-24" from the shower head wall. It leaves considerable space in back for a bench or a chair. The advantage to me is simplicity -- that system supports a single pressure balance valve and has an integral diverter. Alternately, to do a ceiling mounted rain head plus a hand held, a thermostatic valve is needed and the price escalates. For a master, I'd likely go with thermostatic. We have one in our master with a separate hand shower and it's excellent. But for this powder room bath expansion I think a single pressure balance (on/off) shower is sufficient. It's really a question of how the shower will be designed/used. I don't have experience with the hydrorail so I did do a post asking if anyone had used it....See Morecpartist
