Blackberry tips dying (pics)

Hi all! A friend of mine gave my a thornless blackberry clipping back in July. It was only about 6 inches, did really well and is now much bigger (pics to follow). I noticed yesterday that the tips are dying. I am not sure what is causing this. It is only in an 8G container right now which I know is small. My plan was to pot up to a half 55g drum this weekend regardless. Is it possible that is causing the death or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Oh and just a few other questions (first time with berries),

this year the primocanes grew, next year floricanes will grow and those will produce fruit mid summer? It is a thornless blackberry (not sure what variety but I think it is semi-trailing) all growth has been from the crown. Will floricanes grow on runners or does that not happen with thornless? What about pruning? Wow I didn't realize I still had so many questions haha. I did plenty of research but always like to hear from you folks. What a wealth of knowledge. Thanks again!
