Pasta Shapes, what do you call them?
Comments (12)Jenben--you beat me to it. I call them by the name on the box, I guess. My favorite is orecchiette, or little ears. cannelloni little tubes fettuccine little ribbons linguine little tongues manicotti pipes mostaccioli little mustaches orecchiette little ears ravioli little turnips rigatoni little stripes spaghetti strings tortellini little fritters vermicelli little worms...See MoreWhat tile layout is this called? Comments (4)Herringbone would be like this and easier to work with than what you are creating by starting in a corner. Unless you are only planning to use the wood plank tile as a border in the room, you are going to end up with a small box in the center and lots of cuts....See MoreTile color bothers me & what is this ceiling called?
Comments (8)Great looking space. Rugs in the living/dining area can make the floor tile less dominant. if it seems to be "too much wood" for your taste, you might consider leaving the ceiling and the rafters and beams but paint the wood window and door trim and any vertical posts as well as that really long horizontal piece above the post near the door. Would not change the light fixtures or ceiling fan until you're moved with the furnishings you will be using for the foreseeable future as that can make a huge difference -- unless, of course, you are buying all new furniture and light fixtures -- then choose each with the other in mind....See MoreWhat do you call this kind of subway tile??
Comments (33)You could even direct the new owners to this thread after all the paperwork is signed! @Kim T., that (above) is a great, creative idea! In our area, buyers expect not just "move in ready" homes, but picture perfect. Thus, all three realtor buddies of mine say just get a white backsplash up there and move on. (I am going to get more colorful with our powder room, at least!) :) @Cynthia, thanks, that's a good one. I'm 30 mins from MSI headquarters, so I'll check it out. BTW, I was also calling undulated but got odd looks from a couple tile sellers when I said it, lol!...See Moreroarah
