You'll get differing opinions on the laundry forum, but here goes. I bought an LG with Sanitize. After 5 years, I can tell you I've only used it once. Personally, I don't think steam is worth the money, mainly because I don't have anything to which steam is important. My brother has a Sammie and really likes it.

Good deal! Yes, we went ahead and did the same thing even though they're just now breaking ground. The big thing is that all manufacturers are increasing their prices after the 1st of the year! We got a complete GE Profile package for $6,300 after rebate, and 12 months same as cash :)

As you already said, there's ALWAYS another sale. One holiday sale isn't going to give you more of a discount than another holiday sale. A lot also depends on supply and demand. If things are slow, the discounts will be greater. Also, if one appliance model isn't selling well, the discounts on that one will be greater. Or if it's about to be discontinued, you can get a better deal. Those factors influence the price more than which holiday it is. There's a DW I am interested in (for a friend), and every time I check its price on the AJMadison website, the price is changing, kinda like the stock market. Up $40 one week, down $20 the next, up $15 the next, and so on. For the really best deal, I think you do best by talking with your salesperson, or if buying online, calling them, and saying "can you do any better on X appliance?". They often will. What you don't want to get sucked into, is buying appliances too early for install, cause you think the sale is too fantastic to pass up. Most appliances have warranties that kick in upon delivery, not upon installation. If you buy an appliance, say, 4 months before you install it, you will be foregoing 4 months of warranty. And you'll have to store the appliance(s) somewhere if you aren't ready to install--and it is during storage that often things get damaged, by being jostled, pushed, dragged, having things dropped on them, etc.

There is ALWAYS another sale around the corner. I think the days of "seasonal sales" are gone with the advent of internet shopping and easily-available price comparisons. Sears is constantly having a sale of one kind or another, and typically other retailers will match a price you've seen elsewhere. It is important to keep in mind that the clock starts ticking on most appliances upon delivery, not upon installation. If you receive your appliances too early, you will lose out on some of the warranty period, which is typically one year. There have been a number of posts here from people who have done just that, and their appliance breaks, say, in Month 10 of usage, but actually Month 13 of ownership and they are out of luck. Occasionally you will find a store that will hold the appliance you've chosen until you are ready for delivery. Unfortunately, since the recession, we have seen posts from people who've had a store hold their appliances, only for the store to go out of business, and bye-bye appliances. IMO, not worth the risk, when you can just wait to buy your appliances until you are ready for installation. Also, if you take delivery before you are ready for installation, where will you store it that is safe and dry and won't be in your way? We have also seen posts from people who've stored their appliances in their garage, only to have it knocked on its side by workmen, gotten wet, or even stolen. Also, you will find that your kitchen design, and your appliance choices, will evolve over time. If you buy now, and then change your mind, say, from a 30" range to a 36" range, or from a side-by-side fridge to a french-door fridge, or from a range to a walloven/cooktop combo, or any number of changes you may have, well you are stuck with the appliance choice you picked X months ago, before you knew you wanted/needed XY&Z.
