could you possibly have the variegated selection of that plant? i grew one years ago and it's possible for an entire white leaf to appear. don't expect them to get very tall - they have a more prostrate form. not sure about even suggesting this but could sunscald be a possibility? have you removed anything that may have been providing some shade for the plants? all of my gardenias are in partial sun.

Doesn't sound promising, in fact you might have over done it - it is winter time and they (citrus), like most plants, are dormant. To my mind, two things you could do before the sap begins to rise: leave it and do nothing further other than letting it almost completely dry out, or remove it, prune it by a third and replant it in another spot. If you do this do no more than just water it in until new growth appears in spring. What you've done in good faith, I suspect, might be killing it with kindness.

First off, the ground looks saturated. Fine if you just watered but you don't want to keep it that way as the roots will rot. Second, clear away the weeds and other plants around the base of the tree to the drip line of the canopy, or where it would be. A 4" layer of mulch on that area will help keep weeds down, hold in water, and feed the tree as it breaks down. I would pinch off the flower buds as you want the tree to concentrate on putting out foliage right now. Keep your watering to once a week or so (with the mulch) and let the tree be. It is still green so should put out some new leaves but there is a chance it has been stressed too much and will die. I wouldn't fertilize it but a dose of vitamin B-1 (rooting tonic) can help out the roots immensely.

Water it. The poor thing's dying of thirst. Your soil looks bone dry, I would soak the whole pot to ensure all of the soil gets saturated. Then I would drain it and flush it out with plenty of fresh water. When you water any plant, always flush out the whole pot with plenty of water. When you only give them tiny measured amounts of water, then the dissolved solids in that water quickly begins to accumulate because it can't drain away, making it crust over with that white mineral buildup that you were seeing. This makes it even more difficult for your plant to draw up the water it so desperately needs when you do water it. Flushing out the whole pot with plenty of fresh water prevents this from happening. On a side note, that's a cute table. I like the little feet on it, HaHa. :)
