Webcat Either the red or the burgundy. I've got pink ones, one is a very pale pink with a white eye, the other is pink with a red eye. I've got so many seeds of the pink with the white eye that I finally started dead heading them, so no seed pods would develop. I snatched a few seed pods of a burgundy one last year or the year before, but it has not flowered yet. I've also got seeds of Texas star hibiscus, that is really growing slowly this year. I wonder do they peter out after a few years? I started white texas star last winter sowing season, wintered them over in a holding bed and one is setting a flower now, but it looks very spindly. I'm hoping to get seeds from it before the season is over. The reds that you have shown are just to drool for, LOL. They are absolutely georgous!! So if you have some seeds for either red, please keep me in mind. Alberta

Summer's coming to an end? Where? Still very hot here, and I'm still looking at 2 more months, I think. Planning to start some tomato seeds this weekend. Have some pepper plants growing now. Only the lemon drop and Tabasco are setting fruit now. Tom, I haven't forgotten about you. The cachucha peppers have been aborting flowers all summer. I think I've had 2 peppers all summer. I want to send you a bunch so you can try them and plant some seeds, so have patience. They usually go wild in the fall and spring. Waiting for cold fronts before I plant some beans, peas, greens, parsley, cilantro, etc. I do need to get more basil going now. The wet weather has taken mine out. Should be able to get some nice plants before winter. And I've lost yet another rosemary. Same time every year!

Nice pics! That basjoo clump is really impressive! Im sure it will be flowering soon! And the cacti flower is really nice too! I doubt you killed your papaya while transplanting. I planted my papaya in the ground last year and it got to 6 feet tall by the end of the summer. Unfortunately it was growing by my palms so I couldnt dig the roots out very well and barely got any of the roots. By that point it was early October and I left it outside in a pot for a few weeks hoping it would get a little established. It barely did and it lost all it's leaves. But indoors it started growing again and then I accidentally broke the plant in half when removing it outdoors this spring, but it still grew back. So papayas are pretty hardy, Im sure yours will pull through! -Alex
