I bought 2 new ones...what do you think of them?
Comments (15)'Sombreuil' has been a tough and reliable rose for me in coastal zone 6 for the last 8 years. Last winter it had no die back at all. It makes a rather stiff and thorny plant that is hard to train along a low fence. I have it on a 4' picket fence and it is just too low. In my zone it would be much better as a pillar or trellised against a wall. The flowers are very double and come is sprays that open over an extended period. It blooms several times throughout the summer and the constant new growth ensures that even if it drops some leaves there are always new ones on the way. I have this rose in a very prominent place as it is a favorite. 'Compte de Chamborde' is one of the most charming of the OGRs and deserves a place in any garden devoted to them. My fourteen year old own root plant is still small with thin wiry canes to a couple of feet, but it does acceptably well in a mixed border of iris, catmint, and daylilies and is at its most charming when surrounded by the tiny daisy like flowers of feverfew....See MoreI just bought my first house plant (Dracaena) - help me not kill it
Comments (18)You have to know what you're doing with rescues. And the success rate is lower than with healthy plants bought new. In addition, there is sometimes a good reason why the plant was thrown out (pest infestation, fungus, mold, other contagious diseases, etc.). Not everyone wants to hunt though things thrown out, take those risks, and wait years for a lovely mature plant (assuming that even happens). As Caro123 says, sometimes you just want a nice plant. If I were getting a first plant, I'd want to know it was healthy so as to give myself and the plant the best chance at a happy relationship. Also, when you're new to a field, it's hard to know what a good price for something is. And that is a beautiful, big, healthy-looking plant. I don't think we should be too hard on No Thanks, just help them along as requested. No Thanks, it's good that you came here. Comments (6)Folks here are only going to be able to offer suggestions if you post photos of the rooms. As saypoint said above, post one room/area at a time and then define what you need help with, as in paint colors, rug ideas, window coverings. Make sure you specify what you are keeping so someone doesn't tell you to ditch the couch you just bought. Also, photos need to show the whole room/area and not just a fireplace or one wall. Finally, make sure you know/say how much money you want to spend so people don't recommend ideas outside your range....See Morejoaniepoanie
