Comments (8)Pretty Hibiscus Lucy!!! I'm still up---too excited to go to sleep with all this snow on the ground---and on all my plants!!!! :0 Oh well...time to change out the tropical inventory next spring! I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the larger tropicals---but I'm sure things like the bananas will turn to mush! The snow came so fast and early in the evening that we didn't have a chance to move those huge pots with palms, bouganvillas, hibiscus, & such-oh well. They'll be back from the roots (I hope...) come spring! But my brug cuttings, plumies, bromeliads, and a pineapple are safely tucked away in the heated 'manspace'--except my three under the covered patio: Snowbank, Sweetheart, and a pink NOID that I have had for a few years. It is still blooming with fallen snow decorating the tree branches behind it--a gorgeous sight!!! A Kodak moment in my mind!! Nice. Thanks Lucy. Good Night!! ~MJ...See MoreThe 10 Day Rule begins Thursday
Comments (9)I cover nothing. Plants in my garden either live or die, their choice. I've long since gotten over losing a plant, regardless of what it is or how long I've had it. You lose one, you plant another. Right now, most of the stepping stones are under a layer of dead leaves from the African Tulip Tree, the Triangle Ficus, and the Fiddlewood. I can't wait until the Rubber Tree starts dropping leaves. Last winter we filled a dozen large garbage cans with them. This will be my last winter in Florida. Next December, we're moving to Negril, Jamaica for at least two months, perhaps three. This is the beginning, maybe two or three years in, of a cycle of colder winters, hotter summers, and less rain. I didn't move to Florida to have to run the heat and wear sweats all day long....See MoreBig Day, Big Week
Comments (3)Carecooks, I can empathize. We are in the process of a kitchen remodel (with same footprint though) and just this past week my DH took down a large south-facing deck in order to put up a roof that will hold new electricity-producing solar panels. I don't know which I'm more jazzed about -- going solar or having new cabinets and appliances! My house is in crazy disarray and I'm fine with that. It will be a long time before I'll be able to post finished pics, though -- we're almost all DIY. Looking forward to your pics, rc...See MoreRoom-a-day Thursday is Guest room or Childs room
Comments (13)This will be my sewing room once we're finished with the trim and get everything unpacked. When I have guests that don't want to sleep in the spare room in the basement, we'll move the twin bed into here. This is how it will be furnished when in "company mode." This photo was taken on base. I used the same paint color in the new sewing room. The linens and lamp can still be used. And this will be the welcoming committee. If you don't shut the door tightly, he'll also be your sleeping partner....See Moreglenda_al
