I always soak my iris in a weak bleach solution for 15 minutes before planting, as Walter said in the article. It is not because they are dry, it is to have the bleach kill anything that may be on them, such as the start of rot. But if you missed that step before planting, I would not dig them up.

Ebay is not one of the best places on line to buy irises, unless all you are wanting is some color and don't care what color or name they are. There is a good chance they won't be as described and one has no recourse when the bloom incorrectly next year, provided they even bloom the first year. It seems several iris sellers on Ebay don't know that TB irises are rhizomes. They are called corms, bulbs, and roots, besides being called rhizomes. Might you have a pic of the bulbs you received? Could you point us to the auction? We could maybe verify for sure that what they were attempting to sell is incorrect, and then you could leave feedback stating so.
