liquid dishwashing detergent - where are the suds?
Comments (48)Totally agree with you. I used to use Palmolive as it seemed "sudsier" than Dawn. But lately it is horrible and like you I have to keep add more soap and more water to get the dishes even relatively clean. For the commenter that said to "use your dishwasher" as it uses less water--many plastic, fragile and even some cookware items CANNOT be washed in the dishwasher. So you still need a hand dishwashing alternative for those items. I believe the changes are due to environmental regulations that we don't even have any idea were passed that the companies have to abide by. Or they are doing it themselves to improve their ESG scores. If that is the case I think the fact we are all using MORE soap and MORE water to get dishes clean defeats the purpose of changing formulations. I'm going to be asking several of the manufacturers exactly this. If I hear back I will share what they have to say here....See MorePersil Liquid Detergent, anyone?
Comments (13)Denim: those powdered water softening agent often tend to leave a white residue behind - especially with modern, ultra-low-water-level washers. Even more so, if the washer is overloaded. Since denim is a rather stiff fabric, it needs more room to tumble than regular fabrics. In case of an overstuffed washer, powdered detergent (the softener) remains in the creases. All-denim loads should not fill the drum more than approx. 50%. Quick wash: yes, liquid detergent dissolves faster. But I think, since US washers start the cycle with already warm water, even powder should dissolve fairly quickly. Comforters: if filled with real feathers, one should use a down detergent - such as available from Miele - in order not to overly degrease the filling (so I read on automaticwasher.org). Again, powdered can set and remain in the creases of bulky comforters. Alex (who's looking forward to more videos ;-) )...See MoreCheer he Liquid...SO many suds :(
Comments (19)Cavimum: "AND re: the froth/bubbles --- really, please explain as I would truly appreciate it. This FL uses so little water in the wash cycle that I never see a sudsy froth during the wash --- only the rinses." We have never owned a Miele washing machine, so I cannot address brand-specific quirks, if that is what is causing the rinse frothing. But our area has very soft water, so if rinse frothing is an issue anywhere, one would expect it to be a bigger issue here -- and it is not even a small issue here. FWIW, we use Biokleen All-Temperature liquid in our current Samsung WF419 front-loading machine. We use roughly half Biokleen's recommended dosage, but we add a scoop (about 1/3 cup) of 20 Mule Team borax to the mix as well. Among its other benefits, borax is known to act as a rinse aid. In the interests of science, I guess that I should try running a few loads without the borax and reporting back as to whether rinse frothing appeared, but we are happy with the way our laundry comes out, so are disinclined to make the science experiment. BTW, Biokleen is entirely vegetable based (mainly grapefruit seeds and orange extracts), so there never is any petroleum related odor associated with its use....See MoreOMG Persil Will Not Rinse Out
Comments (26)100% agree with Cavimum! USA Persil (and there is handful of other over-sudsers) has more suds during the rinses than usually during the wash portion. Rinse 1 will be sudsy, Rinse 2 worse, 3, 4, 5...... Strange! I'm telling y'all....Tide he TURBO Original Scent liquid. LOW, LOW sudsing, clean and clear rinses, cleans very well and the scent left is light, soft and clean!!!...See MoreLaundry Mich
