Comments (64)AKGB, > ...when you try to leave God out aren't you teaching some form of atheism? No more than you suggest there are no zebras by failing to mention zebras in your post. > Our constitution gaurantees freedom of religion not freedom from religion. You are free to practice your religion. So are kids in school; they can and do pray there. They can even talk about religion to their classmates. > If you say you have the right to say there is no god, then where is my right and priviledge to show you My Saviour, Jesus Christ. You have the right to do so. Indeed, you exercise that right each time you go online and share the word. You do so with my support. What you don't have the right to do is to make the government your personal megaphone, broadcasting your message into the ears, minds, and hearts of the nation's youth in school, where they must go and where their parents are not present. > What God the Father considers pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world. James 1:27 How is the government going to regulate or control this? Why should they? If that's the definition of religion, why mention God in the pledge at all? If schools taught what you describe, I would consider it to be building character, not advocating religion (unless, of course, they included the James 1:27 part). If the government wants to teach character, then I suppose that's OK. Personally, I'd rather the schools focus on teaching things like math, reading, history, and the like. I guess I'm a bit of a radical in that respect. > Why would someone reject the Best? Which are you seeking God's mercy or God's wrath? "The Best" is my right to teach my children about religion as I see fit, and to do it without government interference. That is what I seek (and, by the way, what the founders sought)....See Moreenergy effecient windows for northern states and rebate
Comments (5)This is true. Unlike the previous energy star credits where the window ratings varied with what part of the country you lived in with the North having the most aggressive heat retention U Value and allowing heat gain through the windows into the house, to the south where the U value had less emphasis placed on it, and a more aggressive stance on gaining heat into the house through the windows also known as solar heat gain coefficient where the heat gain is a bad thing as far as energy consumption. Under Obama's stimulus package they took a one size fits all stance where the want a pretty aggressive U value and a very aggressive Solar Heat Gain Coefficient which limit us in the North from absorbing heat through the windows in the winter to help our heating costs. What I have had customers do to help gain the credit is put the qualifying windows on the North and northwest sides of the house or where windows look out over a covered porch and do not help the house gain heat from the sun and they use windows that will allow the solar heat gain on the south and eastern side of the house where they get more sun during the winter days. The credit is 30% of the cost of the windows and doors only (not labor for installation) up to $1500. If you do the math this amounts to $5000 worth of windows and doors so it can be pretty easy to max this credit out and a new entry door qualifies for the credit also...See MoreMy Mortgage Company Neighbor... and the odd stuff it does.
Comments (19)There was never any indication of foreclosure and the house has not been put up for sale. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The brother and sister, aged 98 and 94, were taken out of the house against their will. He had advanced cancer and she was legally blind and was trying to take care of him in this 3 story house with just one bathroom on the second floor. He could not get up or down stairs. and she, a tiny thing at 4' 7" and 75 pounds, could not care for his needs. A visiting nurse was the one who did what was necessary to get them out and into a nursing home. He died within a month and she lasted less than a year. She was a sweetheart, he however was not. The family said it had nothing to do with his age, he was spoiled by his mother and was nasty and arrogant all his adult life. His massive collection of antiques included some ancient Chinese vases, etc from the 14th century . Yet all the collection was stored in an old run down mansion that he rented. The 18 rooms were filled with all kinds of valuable pieces collecting dirt just piled around in no organization with just narrow paths to get through. It was unbelievable to see what was there and the way the two of them lived at home in virtual poverty. Home was a large estate that was sold of an acre at a time in order to support his habit. Ours was the last lot sold....See MoreUser
