What type of dining table with this chandelier?
I have fallen in love with this chandelier.
We are in the midst of a pretty big first floor and kitchen renovation. Our dining room is the first thing you see when you enter our house. We have removed our breakfast nook and are adding a very big eat at island. Our formal dining room will be where we eat at the table. Basically, we got rid of our formal dining and have expanded our kitchen to make it much more conducive to our lifestyle.
We are having a built-in added, very similar to this. (actually identical, just lighter color paint.)
I will need to purchase a new dining room table. We'd like to seat 6-8. If I go forward with the chandelier, am I stuck with a certain "type" of table? Something formal? This is our only table. We will be eating BBQ with friends as well at Christmas dinner at this table. I do have young kids, so I was hoping to find a table with a top that is slightly distressed.
Basically, am I doing this wrong? Should I find a table first, THEN a chandelier?

What type of rug do I need under my dining table?
Comments (10)I would recommend either a solid color fabric, or a very soft, subtle pattern (almost tone on tone). The fabric on the chair seats and the chair backs already have quite a bit of detail, and the wood shutters bring in some texture as well, so I think your drapes should create a simple but elegant backdrop. My favorite look for drapes are ones that are fairly close to the wall color, (could be a tone or two lighter or darker) and that are hung from as close to the ceiling as possible, ending just above the floor (floor length, but not puddled). If you have enough room on both sides of your windows, extend the rod past the width of the windows by about 10-12", so that when the drapes are open, they can hang straight down with the inner edge just meeting the window, and not actually covering it. I personally love linen drapes, but if you want a little more bling, consider an edging like a Greek key in gold, or a silk drape that has some sheen). Double or triple the panels on each side, for a full look. Here are a few looks to consider. Going with a higher contrast drape, like a blue or green from your chair fabric or art, could look quite good too, but I'd still stick with a more solid color look. W 20.5" / D 20.5" / H 37.5" / 26 lb.it's 20x20 by 37" high. can you get a tape measure so you can visualize that? there are 6-40w bulbs. Your best bet is to go into a lighting store where they have this type of beaded chandelier, and see how it looks when lit. Comments (11)I like the simplicity of this one, but it’s still lovely and interesting. I don’t know if the size would work, you’ll have to measure for that. I don’t think a candelabra type fixture would be too busy at all ... they’re a classic look with just about anything. 7 years agoLauren, I was in Boston Interiors yesterday with a friend and saw this table and thought of you. It's really beautiful IRL. On sale; much less expensive than the RH table.
This one also come in two finishes.
This pic is with the extensions in on each end. It's much beefier looking IRL
