Cost of Glazed Ceramic Tile (Heath, Pratt & Larson)...etc
Comments (65)dgormish, I did use P&L Motif for my kitchen backsplash. I thought I had some earlier photos, but didn't find them. Here's a recent photo. The watercolor field tile, W78, is an almond color. It looks grayish in this picture because of the natural light this time of year in Los Angeles - "June gloom." P&L uses a different color chart for their Motif tiles than for their watercolors, so it took some effort to find a good color match between the field tile and the Motif. I had planned to include a liner between the Motif tiles and the framing tiles, but tile installer said I didn't need it. When he did the installation, he said something didn't quite line up and that he needed to add a liner. He asked if I had extra material from my countertop. So, the extra liner around the framing is Mont Blanc quartzite, from a remnant of my countertop....See MoreGrout color and/or sealant for matte Heath tile backsplash?
Comments (18)If you search under sealing crackle tile, which apparently does need to be sealed, at least after install and before grouting, you might find some product help. I'd also test any sealer before sealing, if Heath doesn't have a product rec for their glaze. ETA. As explained to me, by my DD, a ceramics student, glaze, whether matte or gloss, becomes a type of glass, when fired, that covers the clay body. Crackle tile is a glaze type that deliberately mimics "failed" glaze, glaze that has crazed and will allow staining of the clay body. That's why a sealer is placed over it, a double glaze, if you will, that shouldn't be required for a properly glazed tile. I think, with my handmade tile, it's handmade, and they can't guarantee some unexpected glaze failure on a given backsplash tile. So, their response when asked about sealing was, "ok, if you want" but they didn't recommend it, as you are saying Heath does. I'll try not to spit barbecue sauce onto my backsplash. ☺...See MoreHeath Tile Help Needed
Comments (1)Hi Briana, Depending on the effect that you are looking for, I would recommend a lighter shade of blue (similar how the photo you show had darker variations of the blue) or a white or grey for contrast. It will look classic and fresh without being too contrasting / feeling overpowering. Good luck! -Myra...See MoreHelp with Bathroom floor tile colors, and wall paint colors Pls!!
Comments (2)needs a littlle more attenyion than just the tile, heating and paint. Are you really lovin' that tub and tile surround???? One note of caution with the heated floor and tile installation. Lay down the heating material on the entire floor. Saving money by only heating a 'path' will result in uneven floor tile. Just a little uneven edge on a tile is a pain on a tiled floor. This is a bare feet nuisance easily avoided....See Morejml248
