Comments (3)Turn mower on its side, with the carburetor side up! In the bottom of the carburetor bowl will be a brass bolt. Using some rags, stuff them under the bowl so it doesn't fall off. Then reemove that brass bolt! Then carefully inspect the threads and smooth part of that bolt. There will be 1 or 2 medium size holes, and one teeny little hole, very hard to see! You must clean out that teeny hole! I use a bristle from a mechanics wire brush. I have also used a welding tip cleaner, but you must not enlarge the hole! Then blow thru the hole in the bottom of the brass bolt. Then reassemble the bolt and bowl, making sure the gasket hasn't come out. Set the mower down on its wheels, and i'll bet it will start in 5 minutes or less, and run! Been there, did that-today!...See MoreHonda GCV 160 Wont Start
Comments (80)I went through all of these steps, even replaced the carburetor. I had to order two packages of the gasket kits to get all of the different I needed. I also replaced the two long bolts with threaded rods that were approximately 4" long (I added lock tight on the engine side) then I could check each part as I put it on. It is maddening to know you did everything and it starts up and mows then it won't start at all. It also seems to lose power as you mow. The solution (for me): The last thing I did was replace the fuel line. No gas coming out of the tank. What!?. I opened the gas cap and the gas shot out. I left the cap a little loose and mowed the yard. Staring and stopping with no issues and lots of power! Lawn is mowed. Now I'm gong to find out how the tank is vented so I can fix that issue....See MoreToro 22" Recycler can't get it started! Please help!
Comments (121)Im working on a 2014 Toro XT6715-2070 149cc engine where its having issues on warm up. After starting it will run well for about 30 to 40 seconds or so then start to stumble for about 10 seconds, then runs OK for about 20 seconds, then goes back an forth doing this for about two and a half minutes then just starts to run well from then on. After its ran for about 6 minutes it still does not fully open the choke butterfly. The carb is a new OEM carb and I pulled the fuel filter to eliminate any possible issues with fuel restriction. The air filter is also new. Iv had this on other identical mowers and have not yet found a solution. The choke is one of these that mount directly the muffler and is the size of about a fifty cent piece that mounts flat on the muffler. It does not appear to be adjustable in any way. if I hold the choke rod open fully I do not experience this issue. Im sure Ill see this again so if anyone has any information for me that would be most helpful....See MoreI'm guessing thick blue smoke isn't a good sign?
Comments (21)baymee-- Unless this Lawn-Boy has a DuraForce engine (identifiable by the above-deck muffler), the only way I can think of to remove the fuel from the crankcase (other than letting the engine burn it out) is to remove the muffler and let the fuel drain out of the exhaust ports. For a DuraForce engine, you can either remove the exhaust transfer tube to let the fuel drain out of the exhaust port, or you can remove the cylinder head and lift up the back wheels. The air vane governor on these machines (i.e., "the contraption connected to the carb") does make carb removal an exercise in patience. Hope this helps....See MoreMark Wright
