Which Bosch compact washer
Comments (2)Though I have NO idea why I was mindlessly clicking around and found myself on this Forum - I can respond to your post with our 2nd story Bosch experience. We built our home, been in almost 4 years and put in the Bosch Next Premium (washer model WFMC640 with matching dryer). The laundry room is on the second floor and the first floor has 10 ft ceilings. The laundry room floor is travertine and I was very concerned about "movement". Bosch had done a recent "improvement" to the feet to correct movement issues around the time we got our set. As it turned out we ended up with the pedestals so they are even higher. The set has been great, a vast improvement over the Maytag Neptunes I used to have. I do like the 1200 RPM spin.....it makes a difference. Movement has not been an issue. I am not familiar with "compact" vs "full size" - ours would be considered "full size". I had heard some negative things before taking delivery of the set but I find they clean very well. I would buy them again (though I am intrigued with the LG steam function)....See MoreRecovering From Flood - Which Washer/Dryer to Buy?
Comments (2)Since no one else answered you I will give you my two cents worth. There are a few ASKO lovers here but they have older machines - the new ones are iffy and service is even more so. Same for the Mieles - older is better, new may not be so good. Way too much money for me. Their gas dryers are being recalled - not a biggy but quality may be an issue. Kenmore is not a brand, exactly. The top end FLs are Duets with a few more bells and whistles. The "new" Maytags are also Duets or Duet Sports - renamed to Maytag. Many of the horror stories with the mainstream machines are caused by unrealistic expectations, bad installation or operator error. My Duet Sport is 1 1/2 years old and I am very happy. There are many happy Duet owners here, also. You need to figure out what you need - price, size, capacity, special cycles, fancy colors, steam, location, etc. then go shopping. See what feels good to you, then buy it and learn how to use it properly. Be sure you can return it if you have vibration or other problems. Check to see if service is available in your area. Don't believe much of what the salespeople tell you. Good luck with your purchase....See MoreFL Washer...which one to purchase?
Comments (12)On service coverage area, you have to really look a the fine print, some will charge for excessive millage trip charges. Below is the one from Miele Extended Warranty. It is only 50 miles. I doubt this wording is unique to Miele. I would expect most to limit their exposure for rural areas. I used to have the Miele, so had done the research for it. I mentioned it only as an example. Samsung is likely to have this concern due to being new in market Also, if you do get an incompetent local service provider, even if authorized, you are real limited in choices. But the Duet/Kenmore sets, is you can't not find a local service provider for them, I doubt you will find one for the Samsung sets either. I just got the Kenmore equivalent to the Duet after returning my Miele W4840 washer. The Kenmore's have have few more features over Duet, but the basic machines are the same. So far, I think they are very good. Highly refined, since they have been the market for years. However, I am impressed also with the Samsung products, in general. The Kenmore washer has a very good heater usage with Stain Treat as contrasted with the Samsung cold water approach with silver nanotechnology. This is the controversy around the Samsung. I think the Samsung Silver/VRT are under market price pressure. At BB, they had the Samsung W/D set $400 off, if you bought the pair. They also claimed the would honor the 10% coupon. It was tempting. But I went with the Whirlpool's machines because of their good track record, heaters, and no silver issues. So only driver for Samsung would have been the VRT technology. As it so happens, the Kenmore are so much better than the Miele W4840 even on the 2nd floor, it is not really an issue any more for me. If the VRT is really better than Whirlpool 6 point suspension, the VRT must be very smooth indeed. Comments (8)Hi miamibeach, Forgot a few things. I was like you. Bosch and Asko seemed like good alternatives, but I have read far too many service issue threads with both while Miele's have stellar records. I mean it goes on and on with Bosch and Asko. Computer boards, noise, leaks, lousy service support... and not just here. All the ratings sites tell the same story. Mixed reviews is a bad review. The same was backed up when talking to multiple dealers. Two high end dealers who carried Asko told me to forget it. One was more optimistic about Bosch Axxis, but said they may last 8 - 10 years while a Miele would last 15 - 20. His advice was this, "If you are going to be in the house for a long time, absolutely go with the Miele, it's a no brainer." Of course the Miele, Bosch and Asko are in a different class than the Whirlpool 24 incher, but within that class I made a personal cost benefit decision that the extra for the Miele would pay off in terms of years of service and service free years of hassle. By the way two guys at two different home center stores practically begged me to not even consider those small 24" wide Whirlpools. Both said they were essentially disposable machines with lots of problems. How often do you get a guy at Lowes telling you, "No, no, not that one, please, please, don't even consider it." P.S. I told both straight up I could only use a 24" wide unit and could simply not use anything larger in our space, so it wasn't like they could sell me up to a different machine....See Moreafruscione
