I think Dakota is on to something, particularly with the names they come up with today....Can you imagine being called Apple or North West?!! I don't regret the names I chose, but my oldest daughter changed her name. So I'll say the name they chose, too.

Specifically, naming their child after a family member. For instance: I am James William and my father was James Edward. It was horrible when I tried doing things after he died. First name the same, many places did not want to close out accounts or pay out whatevers. I had to send copies of my birth certificate and my father's death certificate. It has to be naming the same as a family member.

Sometimes the name as it is pronounced is "normal," but the parents used a really unusual spelling that makes it difficult for folks to know how to pronounce the name.

And sometimes the parents use the normal spelling of "something," but give it an unusual pronunciation, which also makes it difficult for folks. (Like naming a kid Orangejello and pronouncing it oar-ON-zsh-low.)
