Arkansas, it makes no difference. I have friends who are same sex couples......some married, others not.

He didn't strike me as being gay, that's all. I've had a major crush on him from the first episode. I always tell me brother he could be gay........he's very good looking and absolutely anal/ocd on the way he keeps his condo, and personal effects.

I wonder why people are obsessed with other people's sexuality. Um, would they go around telling people "oh you know so-and-so, well, they're straight". If one wouldn't do that, then I don't see any reason why one would specifically point out a gay person...by name....none-the-less. It's nobody's business what a person's sexuality is.

And although it isn't anybody's business, for the record, I am heterosexual.

"strike me as being gay" Is there some special way gay people are supposed to act for them to be gay? I have gay friends and family members and they don't act any different than any other person around them. Just like some people assume I am lesbian because I have never been married nor do I want to get married but I am not a lesbian but who should care any way

Jasdip, for the record. I'm gay & did NOT find anything you said as offensive to me. I'm also sometimes surprised & very proud when anyone comes out. Famous or not.

But Hollywood is tough because it's sometimes hard to play a believable straight character when the world knows your gay. I think Matt did an awesome job playing straight on the show. Just like Neil Patrick Harris (how I met your mother).

My hat also goes off to Ellen DeGeneres & Wanda Sykes, Jim Parsons (Big Bang theory), Sara Gilbert (the talk), Jayne Lynch (glee), Ricky Martin (singer), David Hyde Pierce (Frazier), Cynthia Nixon (sex in the city), Allen Cumming (The Good Wife), Jodie Foster, Meredith Baxter Bernie, Lily Tomlin, Jonathan Groff (glee), Robert Reed (the Brady bunch), Rosie O'Donnell, Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter & Anthony Perkins.

The list is longer, but these are the ones I can think of right now.

To the above posters, it "shouldn't" make a difference and I appreciate you pointing that out. But sadly, it does make a difference in Hollywood and in most cities, even today.

But I know Jasdip meant no harm. I also will say hmmmmm, when someone comes out. Not in a bad way, just ok that's cool. Your brave & strong. Sometimes it is really surprising to learn someone is gay, and sometimes not. We've all seen the "over the top" gay character and that is usually how people see us. But that's now ok and it makes me happy.

Thank you Pawprint! Exactly! It's weird how some are over-the-top flamboyant and others are just quietly doing their thing. Thankfully there aren't many that obvious; e.g. Johnny Weir, etc. :-) I'm completely, completely acceptable of gays. It wouldn't bother me at all if my niece came home with a girlfriend. I'm so glad you didn't take any thing as offense that I said. I honestly meant no harm or shame, or insult.

It's funny how good straight people play gays and gays can play straight. I'd heard that John Barrowman (gay) applied for Will and Grace, but he was 'too straight' for the character, but then straight Eric McCormack was hired for the role, and nailed it.

You know, as I started reading this post my 1st instinct was "hmmm, I wonder why some parts of some comments makes it distasteful to me"? And seriously Jasdip, the first part of your last post here, "Thankfully there aren't many that obvious; e.g. Johnny Weir, etc. :-)" told me everything that felt wrong about the tone of what I believe you're actually implying....seems as long as a person isn't too out there you'll be all accepting. Feels wrong on just so many levels.

I find that distasteful, whether they're straight or not. I find Pride parades way over the top......nudity, and dressing outlandish. I don't personally know anyone who would take part in them. They just live their lives without being an exhibitionist. So yes, over the top, is too much. If someone were to dress bizarre and walk down the street and people looked at them, they'd be upset, yet they deliberately would be drawing attention to themselves.

OTOH, I'll go to a Cher concert where I'd expect drag queens to be in the audience!

Pride is a celebration for all people... Does Carnivale or Mardi Gras give you the hee bee jeebies? Acceptance is truly a beautiful act of "humanness" isn't it?

Jasdip - we have been watching White Collar at 9:00 p.m. on channel 35 in Toronto.
I had to tell my husband that Matt Bomer is gay because he didn't realize it either.

He was also surprised by Anderson Cooper (I wasn't).

I guess Channel 35 didn't buy the "next" season - the season we were watching ended with Peter being arrested for murder. The next night we turned it on and Channel 35 started showing again the beginning of the season when Neal and Mozzie disappeared to the island.

We're in season 4, and there are 6 seasons. We haven't seen Peter being arrested so that's to come yet. Channel 35 is missing a couple of seasons at the beginning, if they're starting at the island.

Hi Jasdip - I read previously.tv (although I liked the now closed Television Without Pity a lot better), so I know what happens and how the show ends.

I am not even sure which season we have been watching, but it sure was nice to find something that I had not seen before and that I would actually watch. There is so little on these days.

I was also watching reruns of The Mentalist - my husband hadn't seen any of them so he was happy. Channel 36 also didn't run the last season and as of last week another channel seems to have taken over the time slot - you never seem to know what station you are getting these days since they jump across networks.

The outrageous outfits (non-outfits?) people wear in Gay Pride parades aren't their everyday work clothes!

As far as pride parades. I've been to a few but it's too much for me. I do think it's over the top, but some gays feel they need to be over the top to get the media attention. And it does work. The news always puts the people who make a statement on the evening news.

I did forget my favorite. RuPaul. I know he's over the top, but he looks SO much better as a woman (in my opinion).

I like Ru Paul! He's been around forever. Barry Manilow is one that I just remembered.

RuPaul is gay, but he's a professional drag queen. He only dresses like that when he's on the job. You can be a drag queen and be straight.....it's a profession.

So, many had to hide everything and it must have been so terrible as back then it just couldn't be, even more so families and people didn't accept.

My mom one of her cousin I just saw him maybe twice and was told he was the black sheep and family didn't accept him but nothing was told about him and then finally I found out he was gay and living with someone and in montreal. I felt so bad for him the family treating him like that.

And look what they did when Ellen tried to have her own show and it was found out and they cancelled it and she went into hiding or disappeared for awhile then came out and so many have. Do you know Grandma Walton she was and living with someone and it doesn't change anything about who they are.

And also having families together is wonderful why should they not be allowed?

I personally am proud and happy they can come out and live the free life finally and share like other couples can.

I know there is always so much hatred too in our world of so many things, seems the world must always go at something. Media does so much hard too, the negative and the anger in our world doesn't make it easy.

Jasdip, I also heard that about the Will & Grace show. My favorites were always Jack & Karen. Even though Jack (Sean Hayes) is gay in real life & gay on the show, I think he did a remarkable job. And to this day, I'm sad that Karen's (Megan Mullally) talk show didn't take off like they thought it would.

I think everyone (including myself) wanted her to be the part of Karen (from Will & Grace) on her talk show, but she was just herself, which didn't have the entertainment factor that Karen Walker did. So her show was shortly canceled.

Ellen, we are so not worthy :-).

This is a little off topic, but funny....so...

Before I moved here, I had a big barn with 15 box stalls, so I used to board a few horses. A lesbian couple boarded their horses with me. They were good friends. (Actually, I have had more women (lesbians) as real friends than I have had straight women as friends. Have had several gay guy friends too....but anyway, these two women had their horses at my barn, and a guy that is best described as an "old country boy" came by every now and then. One day he took me aside and said, "Marilyn....are those two women "lisbons"?" I said, "No, Leslie is from Hawaii and Debbie is from California." :)
