It seems to be a highly heralded discovery on the internet that if you save the bottom inch or two of a green onion, you can replant it pretty much indefinitely. It seems, however to be pretty common knowledge that a green onion will keep growing after you top it for harvest. So the simple question is, for the purpose of harvesting green onions, whyever would you want to pull the entire plant and replant it? Just go out with a scissors and grab your greens. No replanting necessary.
