What do I feed a bluebird?

My husband just came home, got out of his car and this bluebird walked/jumped over to him. He "called" the bluebird and he followed him. He then flew to the top of our roof and I called "here bluebird, bluebird" (yeah I know crazy, kinda like you call a cat).

He came over to me. I ran in and got some old baby bird food --Avian Weaning Diet--from about six years ago when there was a baby bluebird nest that the mom was killed--softened it and put it in a dish and he came over and ate some.

Could this one of the babies?? I don't know how long they live but we took the babies over to a lady that cared for baby birds but that was about 6 years ago.

Is it ok to feed him this? I don't know what to feed him that is easy to get. General Petsmart-type bird food?

He really seems like someone has been feeding him--way too tame for a bird--and really--he did come when I called him!!

Thanks!
