pilosocereus magnificus?

User

I am trying to id a cactus I inherited from my father. I'm not certain, but from my google searches I suspect it is pilosocereus magnificus. The pot it was in was soaked and appears to have been sold with the infamous glued down stones. I'm pretty sure my parents have had this for years but alway had amazing luck with keeping plants alive despite less than desirable conditions. I removed the cactus and it's sitting in a thick mil plastic bag open in pretty humid conditions (I know this is bad, it's been a busy day).

My two options are to either attempt to repot and keep it or give it away. I have over 100 succulents inside but no room for this guy as he's too big (over 2 feet). I've never really done container plants outside so it would be a learning curve.

If on the off chance there is someone near Austin, TX that would like to rescue it, I would feel better passing it along. Otherwise, I'll try to keep it.

Long story short, I should start with an id! Thanks for any help. - Joanna
