Elaine, I have all of these roses and really like all of them. The radiance clan grows very well on their own roots and though large, I doubt they will reach anything approaching the size of the grafted one in those photo's. Plus, I prune them to keep them in bounds. Don't fear that you won't have room for them. Careless Love, and Red Radiance will reach approx. 6 ft x 4ft by fall after a pruning of about 1/3 in the spring. Mrs. Charles Bell took a little longer to get established than the others but mine reached 6 ft this year as well. CdB makes a lovely, sprawly big bush and blooms all of the time. She was fairly clean until fall then had a moderate amount of some fungal disease. Looks like a combo of blackspot and cercospora. Of course, nearly every rose here had some degree of disease by then. The Tea's you've ordered are only two years in my garden so it is really to soon to say how large they will be but so far the blooms are beautiful and they are healthy. VV has the biggest, most fragrant blooms! Love that rose. Carol

A six arm chandelier can be changed to a five arm one if you take it to the right repair shop. We used to do this years ago and there are still some shops that can remake the fixture. If you can find an older shop, sometimes they would have the arm from another crystal chandelier. Since I am not sure what area you are in, you can check in your yellow pages. If you want to make sure that they can do the job and the chandelier is not huge, you can bring it in. Also, and most importantly, check around to see if they can give you references or even call the Better Business Bureau. I know that I read about a sleeve that was being sold in one of the lighting magazines to repair the crystal arms, but I cannot find it at this point in time to refer you to the product. I know that there are even individuals that do this as a living. One of them in Washington, D. C. does nothing but repair and clean crystal chandeliers for hotels and embassies. You may want to contact a hotel in the area and ask if they use a service for this and get their name. Remember that if you change it to a five light, they will need to redo the entire fixture by taking it apart, but if they are good at their craft, you will never know the difference. Should you decide to do this, ask them if they also clean the inside of the crystal while they are making the repairs. Also, I would post a picture of the chandelier and measure the arm. You never know if anyone has something like it that is dropping in on this forum. If they do, you can probably get it and take it to the repair shop.

val - i like the look of the windows in that thread. i definitely want a twisted wood rod. you're saying to install the rod wider. you mean so that the entire window shows and the curtains are at the edges? i have those two smaller window panels on each side. isn't that going to look huge.? the sheers i have right now are not operable. holdbacks sound like a good idea. the only thing with those is i've noticed you end up with wrinkles. so you think i should permanently keep the rod at the height it is. not raise it? or just for now? i really need to make a decision on that. higher rod means longer drapes with means more money for drapes. i couldn't keep the ones i have right now because they'd be too short. which i'll probably end up getting new ones but i need to paint first. the other issue i'm having is the allen + roth rods and also the ones at linen and things only are 8' 2" or 8' my window (with trim) is 8' 3"/100". i thought they had longer ones at lowes but now i'm starting to second guess myself. i can't find them online. what do people do about this?? i can't imagine i'm the only person with a window this wide. i did see on the linens n things site it mentions "Use wood pole connector for wider windows" what's this? nothing showed up when i searched. i only need inches not 6' or anything crazy. We were originally going to put the thick, twisted wood rod in our bedroom but decided we're the only ones to see it. we installed another small one. i kick myself for not buying the bigger one AND for not installing the rod higher. It really looks funny to me in the bedroom. I always thought that was and looked the norm until i found this site. haha
