First Hosta Shipment has Arrived!
Comments (10)Sorry, Ken & Paul, I'm still living in the dark ages. No DC! Both kids have them, 2 different brands and each believe theirs is superior. One day, I suppose that I will have to convert, as it's already difficult to find 35 mm slide film. There's a downside to living in a warmer Zone, many Hostas and other frost tender perennials are already up and sporting new foliage, but we could have freezing temps at night, well into April. Our last frost date is about April 15, most years. Another disadvantage, recent warm temperatures have produced mosquito larvae and a few adults are already taking aim! Ken...Hope to see your new garden in about 90 days. So, better get busy! Airline connections into LAN are turning out to be a nightmare. Where are you, Republic Airlines, when I need you? Comments (6)I ordered four hostas last summer from LOTG for our lake cabin, and they were large and impressive. However, this year they are not large and impressive. They are small and unimpressive although they are very large varieties -- Journey's End, Satisfaction, Sun Power and Elegans. I'm guessing it may be because last year they were parts of large hostas and this year they are two-eyed plants. Or it may be a siting problem, but I planted them in an area of no root competition, excellent drainage with slightly sandy soil and a slope. I thought at the time it was the best spot I had ever planted a hosta. Or it could be this year's wacky weather, including 18 inches of snow there in early May. So we'll see....See MoreHostas arrived -after 3 weeks shipping

Comments (8)Thanks, sandy slopes. I have to bring my little kitty in to her regular vet Monday so that the vet can hopefully get a urine sample to determine what is causing her cystitis symptoms and get her on the right antibiotic. Meanwhile, she is getting the pain med the emergency vet prescribed and that seems to give her a lot of relief. She is not running around trying to pee everywhere now, only in her litterbox. She is eating, drinking, and soliciting getting petted. You've seen pics I've posted of her here, so you know how adorable and precious she is....See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
