A nice surprise on Tuesday

I was expecting Raspberries and Cream to begin blooming today. That's what the label said. But it turned out to be Razor Sharp, which I thought I had lost. I'm happy to see it instead. It has two scapes, one with 18 buds and the other still forming.

It's planted next to The Dominator, and the two look nice blooming together. This photo makes Razor Sharp look larger, but that's an illusion of perspective. Razor Sharp's first bloom in almost 6.5 inches, while this second bloom on The Dominator's rebloom scape is 7.75 inches.

Final Touch has 32 buds now. It might have stopped bud building.

I like that Razor Sharp. It has a great watermark, wonderful teeth, and the markings on the sepals are quite interesting too.

I always liked the color on Final Touch. It has been one of those that just doesn't seem to like my garden. I've tried 3 times & it has died 3 times. Once it lasted 3 years before developing crown rot, it didn't bloom all that much while I had it, but the blooms were beautiful. I don't think it is my zone that it doesn't like, I think it just has a personal grudge against me. Same thing for Hush Little Baby, although I'm giving that one one more time.

Something pollinated my Amaryllis or it's a self pollinator. This has never happened to my Amaryllis Bulbs before. This was the 1st stalk that bloomed, the 2nd stalk is now in bloom.

How big does it measure now? Or do you have a picture with something for scale? That may be easier than measuring it. I get vastly different measurements each time I measure mine lol

razor Sharp is really nice, doesn't it make you do the happy dance when one you thought was lost shows up. Especially when as special as this. It does look good with The Dominator.

Razor Sharp is lovely! I'm not always a fan of toothy ones but this one is really nice. Glad it showed up, better late than never! Was it advertised as a late bloomer or is it just getting acclimated ?

Sherry - It's an early bloomer. I suspect Razor Sharp and Sea Shell Lullaby were both heavily used in hybridizing by their previous owner and needed more time to acclimate. I got them both from the same seller late last summer. Fighting Fire is just getting ready to bloom for the first time too. It bloomed up a storm last year, and I attempted to set a couple of pods on it. That's not the best idea for a new one.

Beautiful pair! Razor Sharp is an appropriate name too. Final Touch is a nice one as well.

I wondered what happened to your Fighting Fire. It was so pretty last year. Razor Sharp has such pretty coloration and edges. It does look very striking with The Dominator.

lilykate - Fighting Fire will be a welcome sight during the September doldrums. I keep hoping more fans will scape. All of the fans are very large now. Here's a photo of it from last year.

What a great combo with Razor Sharp and The Dominator. Razor Sharp in particular draws my attention. Hope to seem more of it next year.........Maryl

Maryl - I'm pretty impressed with the blooms on Razor Sharp. And a scape with 18 buds makes me smile. It's so fun to have a few fancy ones blooming now.

I agree. This has been a really unusual year. I had two rebloom flowers on Orchids and Gold today, a new scape on Joan Senior as well as Indian Ripples. The latter two have never ever rebloomed before. I don't know what gives, but I hope it "gives" again next year.. Although I heard somewhere that they are predicting a colder then normal winter for us and that could spell trouble given my pot situation.....Looking forward to Razor Sharp next year from you. The color looks like the same shade (only deeper ) as Linda Beck, which doesn't grow that well for me. But I do love the color of it though............Maryl
