'Buds n' Blooms!' What the future holds!
Comments (17)Theresa - I'm hoping for more than a 'few weeks' of frost free weather! lol! Some of these I haven't seen bud or bloom yet! I've waited a long time for 'Wanda Sue' to bloom! Had to dig her up last year when I bought the new place. And of course, she didn't bloom after the move, as well as quite a few others that didn't get a chance to do anything! So I'm anxiously waiting to see some action around here! :) Marquest - I tried to help Kim set her photobucket account the same as mine & it didn't help her pics expand either! Not sure what I did or didn't do! :) Maybe one of the pc experts can help out! Brenda - It stinks knowing I most likely will not have 'Goree Island' seeds! I overwintered two plants - planted them outside thinking 'maybe, just maybe' but no such luck! I still have two 1' tall plants which I started this Spring! I'll have to see if maybe one of them can make a short journey to Ga! lol! They're sort of naked though! rofl! Just a couple of leaves at the top & naked down below! Sheesh - that sounds rather dirty, doesn't it? I didn't mean for it to! ;) Margaret - Let us know what's budding & blooming! Pics girl! Pics! :) Elizabeth - My 'Creamcickle' went to Angel Heaven during the winter! I really missed that one this year! Maybe someone I sent cuttings to last fall has one that may be big enough to cut! I'm sure they'd send you a cutting! Diane - Yayyy on the 'maters and peppers!' lol! I dread that evil word - SNOW!! lol! Glad you managed to protect them - just in case! Maybe you'll get to see a few grand 'flushes' before the evil snow comes flying! Mike...See MoreDays between scape appearance and bloom
Comments (4)I don't know if it is any help to know, I saw my first scape of the season April 21, it should bloom in a day or 2. However, I have had blooms on other daylilies the last few days that didn't have scapes for a week or so after that one. Probably depends on the size of the flower & I bet they move faster in warmer weather....See MoreDarcey Bussell just doesn't quit!
Comments (33)Darcy Bussell's growth habit reminds me of Bishop's Castle, which has long canes with flowers at the end that flop downward in an attempt to kiss the ground. I don't allow that nonsense and cut the canes way back, and the next time that cane has bloomed it's not nearly as long. Each time I cut the canes back into the bush, and after a while it seems to get the message, while still blooming, and the bush is staying at the same size year after year instead of turning into a ground-eating monster. Not every rose will put up with this but these two do, although I must say your Darcy Bussell blooms a lot more than my Bishop's Castle, even in the heat....See MoreLots of blooms, quite a few FFEs
Comments (18)You must have commented while I was, Julia...The weather here has been dry for 19 days...Supposedly, we get rain this week...I do hope so. Why am I never content, but always plan changes in my garden? I won't make nearly so many as last year, but I have five growing roots in pots right now, and I plan at least one more purchase. Certain ones will be leaving. At least I di manage to cut my iris to only one small place to keep weed free now and eliminated one large daylily bed....But I added on to the front bed. Ah well. I do enjoy it. Hopeffully yours will bloom AFTER the weather settles down then. Celeste, my blooms are really looking well, but, as I have complained so much, the foliage is another story. It does not look well at all. It isn't accustomed to freezes after it gets well on its way t full size and it shows. RFK always shows itself I bought one fan of it and one of Emerald Starburst as my retirement present. They both did so well, and were worth the high to me price. It is funny that you commented on Sunset Romance. I considered moving it out of my garden at one time. WEstbourns do well here do. She had a knack for it, I think. I lookk forward to seeing both your posts soon. Julia, Mean Green had six blooms today! Love i and thank you again. kay...See MoreNancy
