William Shakespeare 2000 looks sickly

My William Sharespeare 2000 has been looking sickly. It's in it's first season with me and was off to a slow start (all growth has been spindly) to begin with and struggles with some powdery mildew in the spring, but then seemed fine. Towards the end of July, I think the heat and humidity really stressed it out and it started dropping leaves, getting blackspot, etc. It's showing some signs of new growth with cooler weather and has kept blooming, though the latest blooms looked a little sad. Any suggestions? I've read it takes a few seasons to get going, but otherwise should be pretty disease resistant. Want to save it if possible. It's currently in a big pot. All of my other potted austin roses are doing great so wonder if my issue here is with the specific rose.
