CD cards are inexpensive. Get another and see what you think. I'd be more concerned that it's the camera.

ETA: I've never encountered this problem, that recording media wears out and gives less good quality of whatever it's storing. Malfunction, yes. In need of a reformat, yes. Look to the source (camera settings, lenses).

I'd reformat the card first, but I'd say it's the camera and not the SD card. Have you ever had your camera serviced? Is there a camera place near you? The one closest to me I can email or call and get price quotes for different things.

Is there a manual focus/auto focus switch on your lens or camera? Maybe you accidentally moved the switch out of autofocus.

I have heard that some cards are better than others-- but I've never heard of one suddenly making photos less crisp.

I'd clean the lens, the external sensors and replace the battery.. and try again.

Also, if you haven't been using it regularly, make sure all your settings are as you expect.

I'm experiencing the same thing with my older point and shoot Kodak camera. Besides only accepting 2gb cards, which I can only find online because newer cameras use bigger ones, the photos are not as nice as they have been in the past. I'll get a message to re-format the SD card, which means I need a new one, or I'll try putting in fresh batteries but I agree it's more than likely the camera is just wore out. Unfortunately Kodak doesn't make cameras anymore! I may buy myself a new camera for Christmas.

Checking the settings is a good idea because I may have accidentally moved one. The battery is new.

I'll go ahead and order a new card also.

I change cards a lot, and keep them for backup.

The cards are not like old cassette tapes. It's probably the camera.

I typed that quick yesterday and wanted to pop back in. That camera changes lenses right? It very well could be the auto focus kerplunked. I just had a lens repaired for AF issues. Be sure to double check all settings.

You know, we've come a long way with digital cameras. Although I have a Canon EOS with changeable lenses, it's so big and heavy (relatively) that it's never the camera I have with me, which is a requirement for taking good (or any) photos.

I used to purchase a new point and shoot every couple of years mainly for better photo quality.

And then the iPhone camera got really good. And it's always with me. Not saying it's the best camera out there, but for 99% of my photos, it's just dandy.

So we're used to seeing 12-megapixel shots every day. You still need to focus and compose the shot, but it's really easy. Anyway, compared to my older cameras (Oakley's is from 2008), I'm taking sharper photos with my iPhone 6s Plus that lives in my purse or back pocket.

Remember the topic I did called something like, "I don't know how to.....?" Well, I should have added in the topic that I don't know how to work my camera except for the basic settings. lol.

DH bought it for me, along with a tripod, zoom lens, wide lens, etc. It comes with a video that I never looked at. I've looked at the book but for the life of me I don't understand it, and when I take a picture it's a spur of the moment thing, not planned.

I have never been able to take a picture at night unless it's the moon. I try to take pictures of Christmas lights at night, but the camera either won't "click" or the lights are awful.

Honestly I'm about ready for a P&S camera like my last one. DH and I share an iphone and he uses the camera for work. I really don't need an iPhone so that doesn't bother me, but they do take great pictures.
