This is a question I get every day at work. This summer, the climate was right for many things in my garden to rebloom. Some do it easily, some need a little more coaxing. Here is my list: Coreopsis: regular re-bloomer, easy, no deadheading required Dianthus: regular rebloomer in cool periods of summer, easy, no deadheading required, although you may want to trim them up to keep them looking tidy. Digitalis: Good rebloomer in cooler seasons, like this year. Cut off the flower stalk after each flowering to encourage new blooms Echinacea: Good rebloomers from lateral buds. The laterals will bloom bigger and longer if you deadhead the terminal bud when it is done blooming. I can get up to 3 successional blooms from coneflowers before frost Geraniums: Most geraniums will rebloom if you cut them back to their basal foliage as soon as their first flush of blooms is done. As mentioned, Rozanne is dependable and regular rebloomer without cutting back, although it can become quite large, so give it room to ramble. Phlox paniculata: Like coneflowers, phlox set one large inflorescence at the terminal, and several lateral buds. Cutting off the terminal when it is done will encourage larger lateral buds. Salvia: Dependable rebloomer. Deadhead to encourage larger and more regular reblooms. Mine literally bloomed all summer, but this was a cooler summer than normal. Usually they peter out in July, when it's too hot. Veronica: dependable rebloomer when regularly deadheaded. Note: A plant's main goal in life is to procreate--that is, it sets seed. Once a flower has matured (and hopefully been well pollinated), the plant begins to devote a significant amount of its energy into setting seed. That is why deadheading is so important-remove the plant's prime directive, and you will generally get better lateral blooms because the plant can devote more energy to producing them. Dashing rebloomed for me a couple of weeks ago. I don't water my iris, & it was in the midst of a really hot 2 week period, 100 up to 112 every day. I was shocked. Not just 1 bloom stalk either, there were 3, from a 2 year old plant. I never have rebloom on anything til September at the earliest. I had a mum blooming in June, although if I don't keep them cut back they bloom in July anyway. Which is ok, they will rebloom before frost anyway, but they do get a bit shaggy looking.

Rainbow, I start with 10-52-10 around the first to middle of June. If I remember to do it I fertilize about every two weeks until the first of November or until hard freeze. This may not work and will not be needed if you have rich soil. The soil in NE Mississippi on the hills is not rich at all. If there is not plenty of rainfall I also water as needed. I plant all my rebloomers close enough to the house that I can reach them with the water hose. I have three(Anxious, Immortality and Brother Carl) that have been blooming since June and the regular fall bloomers started late August. Except for about two weeks after the spring bloom I have had at least one iris in bloom since early March. If I get a few really late spring bloomers I think I can fill that gap. Lee Mincy

I've been trying to get into a few more Bloomstruck 3-gallons for less than $40 (to replace some container migratees) and I've had no luck finding any, that look healthy anyway... Peach / coral: Let's Dance Big Easy, Everlasting Coral, F&E Fantasia Multi-color (not picotee): Pistachio, Everlasting Jade, Noblesse, Amethyst, Coral, Revolution Pastels: Penny Mac, Everlasting Ocean Brighter Pinks: Everlasting Opal, Lime Lovebird (new) Deep Blues & Purples: Let's Dance Rhythmic Blue & Rave, Brestenburg & Mathilda Gutges (old cultivars) Reds / Dark Pinks: Pistachio (multi, dwarf in Z6), Grateful Red (McKay), Fuchsia Glow Blue/pink + bloom size: Endless Summer Original, Nantucket Blue, relatives.... Blue/pink mixed dwarf: Everlasting Revolution. Whites: F&E White Out (dwarf), ES Blushing Bride (medium), Mme Mouillere (large) / only moderate success in Z6. Everlasting Pearl (honorable mention) Double White: F&E Peace, Wedding Gown (half lacecap), Sumida no Hanabi (full lacecap) Black Stem: Enchantress, Black Together / Licorice Lollipop Red Stem: Lady in Red, ES Bloomstruck Double, Single Colored: F&E Together, Izu no Hana (lacecap), Double Dare (dwarf lacecap) Picotees: F&E Peppermint, Wedding Ring, Tivoli, Edgy Orbits (lacecap), Stargazer (double lacecap)
