Does Toto Colonial White Read As White Or Cream?
Comments (4)I just went through this whole "shades of white" thing - I ordered a Toto cotton white tub and toilet, and a Porcher Sapho sink. Porcher is owned by American Standard, and this sink is also a creamier white than the very bright Toto white. (I don't know if it's as creamy as AS white.) It freaked me out for a while and almost made me not buy the sink, but finally (with the help of my good friends here), I decided it didn't matter and it would all blend in. The light hits things at different angles and makes them look different anyway, and I think your eye will just read everything as white....See Morebacksplash for colonial cream granite countertop
Comments (9)Thank you all so much for your quick responses!!! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures yet since we are still under construction. As far as some of the questions...I would say we are more contemporary and elegant. We are open to all tile material, but probably lean more towards ceramic and glass. The walls in the kitchen are Nugget by Benjamin Moore. The Island cabinets are Cinnamon Glaze and the floor is Brazilian Tigerwood. The sink, faucet, pot filler and appliances are stainless. Another question, we are undecided about the cabinet hardware. Is it ok to do Antique Bronze hardware with stainless faucets/appliances and satin nickel mountings for pendant lights?...See MoreColonial Cream Granite
Comments (9)When my DH and I were choosing our granite, we ran across many slabs with rust stains. According to DH (a geologist) these are caused by the oxidation of the iron in the stone while the slabs are stored for months in damp conditions at the mining site. He says they can't be poulticed out; however, if the staining is just a few millimeters deep, they can be polished out. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing simply from looking at a slap how deep the oxidation goes into the stone. Some feel that the rust stains (particularly in darker granites with lots of movement) enhance the stone. (My SIL feels this way about hers) The granite we ultimately chose for our recent kitchen remodel (a variant of "golden rod") also has a few oxidation stains. We were able to template the slabs so that they are in inconspicuous locations for the most part. Hope this helps....See MoreKashmir white vs Colonial cream granite...
Comments (5)Thanks for the replies! We still haven't picked out our cabinets! The contractor we are working with has been really busy but I should be meeting with them this week... Regardless of the cabinet color we are looking for a light granite. The kitchen is tiny and I want to brighten the space. Other choices that I like are Crema Romamo and Latinum....See MoreLisa
