I bought the 10X12 HFGH and it is up. I dug a hole and placed the base frame in it and filled it with what we call red breeze. I did have a bit of a problem with the instructions. I went to HF web site and downloaded a new set of instructions. That helped, but even with these new instructions, it left a lot to the imagination. They were different than the ones that came with the GH. I do want to make some modifications to our GH also to make it stronger. I am new to this site and would like to know how to find pictures on here, especially of the pool cover for insulation. I am thinking of putting up bubble wrap on the inside to help with insulation. I found these items on EBAY. Greenhouse Insulation Fittings - Super Alliplugs x 50 Has any one tried these? Here is the link to his EBAY store. Hi Dax! I *just* found this thread (after reading a bazillion others, *and* starting a new one - my bad!!!). Awesome pics - Thanx! I'm printing and hanging onto 'em for when (okay - still "IF") I buy my 6x8! Question: Is all of your construction SOLELY based on what's in the destructions - err - instructions that came w/the 6x8? Or did you do any add'l "beefing up?" (other than the extra T-Bolts) Your GH location looks pretty "protected" - so I'm guessing wind probably isn't a huge concern. But I'm still wondering if there's "additional" stuff (above and beyond what HF supplies w/the GH) that I need to concern myself with... How's your GH holding up? dbw7, thanks for the correction about the gable ends! Not sure if this is what you're seeing, but all of the panels have traditionally been shipped with a clear plastic film on both sides that needs to be removed before the panels are installed. (The part number labels are stuck onto this plastic film.) UV protection is a clear coating that would not be removable...no way to tell if that is present without laboratory testing of some sort, I believe. We just have to rely on the word of the manufacturer we're purchasing the kit from...which is where some of the controversy comes in regarding Harbor Freight. If the white material is designed to be in place for shading, and the white material is already starting to peel away from the panel, that would be a bit worrisome to me...but maybe you could secure it by simply adding some aluminum tape to the edge of the panel.

Usable wall space might be another consideration. The side panels of the 10x12 are 6 5" tall. With the base/foundation, our side walls are about 7 tall. This will allow a 30" tall bench, a wire shelf above that, and a lower shelf under the bench top. So, three levels of plant space is easily possible (I generally have small pots of cacti and succulents.) The side panels of the 6x8 are 4 tall. The final height is determined by the height of the foundation added, so adding a 12" foundation could mean sidewalls about 5 tall. For my plants, that might limit me to two levels of plant space. The 10x12 does allows a bit more flexibility in floor plans. WeÂre building a long bench on each wall, and adding three peninsula benches off one bench, with standing spaces in between. Somewhere I saw a pic of a 10x12 with a U-shaped bench around all three side walls, and a small island workspace in the center. Not roomy, but possible. Regarding aesthetics, I like the feel of the overhead space, but I admit the GH does "stand out" visually in the yard. A shorter GH would have blended in better with our landscaping. I like it when IÂm inside, but when IÂm outside I wish I could crank it down a few inches! At least one member here has mounted a ceiling fan at the peak of the 10x12, another use of that space. IÂve considered creating a "false ceiling" out of solar pool cover in the winter, to block off the peak and limit the amount of air IÂll be heating. (I already have three horizontal braces in place at ceiling height.) IÂve wondered if the (roughly 10 ½Â) height of my 10x12 might help it feel coolerÂif the warmest air concentrates above the level of my head and my plants? But I have no knowledge to support that idea (my newly erected GH is still one big oven.) Maybe someone else has thoughts about thatÂIÂm too new to understand how warm and cool air behaves in these things.
