Comments (1)Not knowing the area where you're living in the US you may have jumped the gun on this...but. With smaller trees it's better to either do roots or branch pruning in the beginning, also better to put it in a larger than normal (or one you would prefer it in). Too late for the first 2. The best way to handle aftercare of a recently shocked tree is this: Water it up very well after repotting--this can be soaking the pot as well as spraying the foliage well. I always had a deeply shaded bed of pine bark mulch which I would bury the pot in. Place the pot in there and cover it...up to the base of the tree...in the mulch. After this pretty much ignore it for a few weeks. Let it sit in the shade and relax, no feeding or water is needed. When it begins to push some new growth it can be moved in with the rest of the trees. In the shade, out of the wind, in a nice moist environment until it recovers...or dies. Comments (11)Fairytoadmother, you can get one at Kmart or Walmart this spring! :) The one in that pic wasn't real level and I came home one day to find it had burst. What a mess that was. So if you use those kiddie pools they must be very level. :) I can't keep Riley out of my ponds and water gardens. He's a real pain in the butt that way. I've tried everything including completly fencing the ponds and water gardens off to themselves. He went so far to bust out the skirting around our mobile home, went under the trailer and out the other side to get into the water gardens. DH says he's going to fix his butt come spring when I set everything up again. He's going to use one of our electric fencers and put a hot wire around them to keep him out. I'm not sure that will even work. He seems to be able to outsmart us on about anything....See MoreAechmea Marcelino- pics and ? about getting more pups
Comments (3)You can put one or two prills of osmocote down each leaf axis, this often promotes pupping. Remove the pups once they are about one third size and again put one or two prills down each leaf axis. Removing the flower spike will allow the plant to put all of its energy into offset production, however you can leave the flower spike on to attempt to get seed to grow out - this will generally produce more plants but takes time. Comments (1)Pretty stuff you have there sir. I'm slowly becoming convinced I will never be able to get lush colors like that in this part of the world. For the most part all my tillandsia and bromeliads stay green all year round. Even all the neos! Maybe I should just concentrate on those carnivorous plants... :P...See MoreMary978
