Ceiling fans: is the difference worth the difference? [vote!]
Comments (26)Thanks for the info about Hunters. I'll keep looking for them. I've bought Casablanca in the past, via ebay like others mentioned, but if Hunter original is just as good, I'd rather do that since I have a bunch of fans to buy. FWIW, I'm with the OP - I like the first fan, but like the glass in the second one better! Any chance they look different in "real life?" Like maybe the first one has more amber-colored glass when it's lit or something??...See MoreIs Laufen tile worth the price?
Comments (4)Hm...that is beautiful, but I know there is rectified polished porcelain (patterns that come in matte, hammered, and polished) available for about less. We're in the PNW--tile isn't especially inexpensive around here. I wish I could remember the names. But they were supposed to resemble marbles--if I can find my samples, I'll tell you. What Laufen pattern are you considering?...See MoreLa-Z-Boy sleeper sofa quality? Worth the $$$?
Comments (1)They all make both good and bad sleepers; nowdays they use plywood frames for sleepers, should be solid hardwood veneers(poplar), no less than 7/8" thick and 9 plys or more and glued and screwed lapping joints, dowells are better but I dont think anyone is using dowels with plywood. The mechanism should not be imported, US still has the best steel and engineered mechanisms, the imports can only compete on price alone. Mattress, will make a large difference in the final costs, buy just as you would a regular mattress. I doubt you will find these quality features in a Ashley sleeper, maybe on the higher end Lazboy sleepers....See MoreTrane XL15i worth $500 more than Lennox XC13 in terms of quality?
Comments (12)jreich just to be clear, you can not achieve the efficiencies from a 15-16 SEER condenser without a var speed furnace or air handler. I do think the XR13 with best matching Trane coil is better constructed and more reliable than the XC13. But with Lennox extended warranty both labor and parts, you have a decision to make. I would also consider your comfort zone and the reputation of the dealers involved. With the Lennox ext warranty, you know you will have at least some measure of peace and mind for 10-12 years. That's all I can offer. IMO...See MoreKatrina Tate
