Comments (17)Tiffy why did you say Ugh about the Japanese Tree Peony I just love them They take some time to become splendid. Patience. Love the listing of things in bloom just now Liked the comment keep dirt under your fingernails. I know it is not much to be admired among most of my women friends, but I myself, don't mind it at all. Mostly not at all. I have several Hydrangea looking so good and roses with quite a lot of bloom Tropicals as well that sure do catch your eye, such as Brugmansia, Datura and Canna Lilies. Some Chrysanthemums are just opening. Lots of sedums make for a great show. Yes that Russian sage looks good now I am just working on a new large front garden bed. eight feet by sixty It will be sunny all day and I am not planing to water it much So good to have the name of some of these plants listed....See MoreRoyal Standard and the joys of late summer
Comments (2)Steve, many thanks for the pictures of your favorites. I note they are all fragrant hosta. Having a bank of Royal Standards is like holding a royal flush in poker. So another fragrant fan steps out of the shadows. You are now a member of the Fragrant Flower Fanciers Fan Club. :) IMHO, the more that hosta breeders recognize there is an audience for flowers with fragrance, as well as prettier flowers, not necessarily bigger or more colorful if it sacrifices fragrance, I think the more we will see new fragrant varieties introduced. I'm sure it takes a longer time to vette a hosta for fragrance and flower form, making it more expensive to produce. I'm encouraged that many folks appreciate the fragrances. My Royal Standards in containers. 2 of them here in bloom and then two more sandwiched between Victory on the left and plantagineas on the right. Also in bloom. One from Hornbaker, the other from GreenMt...See MoreLate Summer T'scape (before Fall so quickly arrives!) (pic heavy)
Comments (15)Thanks, Holiday-ers! That shower curtain idea came from punk! I knew someone had done that but couldn't remember who...it's fabric...guess I don't have to iron or worry about spills! LOL! I'm not too much into 'fairies' (like our Purplemoon here on the forum)...her's are always so darn cute! But these garden fairies I keep out all yr round on porch corner cupboard...they do look 'summery' & we need to keep summer here awhile longer! Those bubbles are quite fun...when they shrink a bit, you just add water! They are nice & full today...guess I got them in Dec 2009 cause here's a couple pics of the way I used them for Winter decor: Glad you enjoyed...thanks again for your comments, Holiday-ers!
