Why is my hydrangea flowers turning brown and crispy?

It is an endless summer hydrangea and it is planted in the eastern side of my house right next to the foundation. It gets 3.5 hours of morning sun and after that its in complete shade for the afternoon. I think its from 9:30-1 ish that gets sun. I planted this hydrangea like almost 2 months ago. I thought endless summers do well in morning sun and afternoon shade? Why is the flower still turning brown then? I think I am giving it enough water but the soil is kind of hard and clayey. It is well draining though. So anyone have any idea?? Here are some pics. In the last pic, notice that some of the blooms are missing because I ripped off some of the blooms that were turning brown.
