urgent: 1 week old fescue germination...what now?
Comments (5)There is really nothing you can do short of erecting a greenhouse around your whole yard. Grass growth is mostly governed by soil temps and light levels, below a certain soil temperature, topgrowth stops, a little lower, then the roots stop. Just the fact that it took 3 weeks for your TF to germinate isn't a good sign (5-7 days is typical for me in CT in September). Are your seedlings doomed? Not necessarily. Since you see very little snow, and minimum temps around freezing, they might make it to spring, but I wouldn't bet on it, especially since you haven't had to mow it yet. So stay off it, and pray for a mild winter....See MoreMy germinating seeds at 3 weeks
Comments (25)Hi dizzy. Almost all of them have four or more leaves per seedling, so I would guess that's what you mean by second set (this is the first time I tried to grow from seeds). I started mine in the house on a bright windowsill over the winter. They went outside in May and have been there ever since. When it starts to get too cold here in October most likely, I'm going to bring them in and put them back on the windowsill with my other mature amaryllis'. I don't have a light set up or room for one, but I'm sure they'll be fine. I think all the sun/rain/fertilizing they got this summer does wonders for them. They are growing very well. I don't think they should be too set back by being on the sill this winter. And just maybe I could see a scape next summer. I'm hoping!...See MoreThe seeds germinated, now what?
Comments (3)Hi Dianashh, The sprouted seeds in your picture look like they are ready to plant. Now I'm assuming it is really hot in Jordan, being a zone 10, so I would probably suggest that you pot them up in smaller community pots for at least a year and grow them indoors and then when they have a little size to the bulb, probably the size of a chick pea, I guess I would then plant them outside in a location that wasn't full sun. As you apparently have so many seeds to play with you can try it various ways; actually sowing the seeds directly in the ground or germinating them in water and then planting them directly in the ground as well as growing them inside for a year. You have lots of seeds and many choices, Good Luck...Donnaâºâºâº...See MoreWhat to do now after poor corn germination?
Comments (17)Can't say anything about the quality of Ferry Morse seeds, but it does make you wonder if you indeed got a true hybrid. And assuming you did there is no reason to assume with a variety name as old as "peaches and cream" that the sources are the same. Heck you could have got a mix of random yellow sweet corn and white sweet corn. Hard to tell. There is obviously a difference in sugar genes between the two from your picture. Whether that is an SE vs an SU or an Sh2 vs an SU, or whatever i don't know. But i'm not surprised that corn that varies for appearance in the seeds would also vary for robustness and or growth, or in your case germination....See MoreGigi Plumeria (FL 9A)
