Comments (6)I've left the fruit for several weeks in a bowl and I can certainly notice a kind of 'going-rotten-lemon' smell as you enter the room. But remember this is a Chinese fruit, and books refer to it's traditional use in China. There, heat and humidity will doubtless increase the fragrance (smell?). If you live in an dry, air-conditioned house that will virtually eliminate it....See MoreCitrus Medica 'Buddhas Hand' lemon.
Comments (8)Nik: Just curious as to if you've contacted the site that I suggested in the UK. How far are they located from you? I was impressed with the variety of citrus that they stock. I wish I could purchase some of their citrus but I checked with them and they cannot ship plants, budwood or seeds into the US. So, from that prospective....you're lucky! From the comments that you made to Toni...sounds like better light would be helpful. I still contend that heavy, slow draining soil mixes, plus over watering cause a big percentage of citrus problems. Certainly, fertility, insects, light, temps, pot size, soil and water ph and such are issues too. Well, good luck...hope you can talk to David and his group...I'd bet they can be of help. Best of luck.. Joe in CO...See MoreNo fruit on buddha hand citrus
Comments (5)yeah keeping the water off for a bit or just a bit moist seems to encourage new growth and flowering in my navel and meyer lemon. they are small still and will be potted citrus there whole lives. still don't have any problem with them flowering and growing. i use an organic citrus fertilizer for them once or twice a month depending on the season. i keep them under lights for winter so no need to stop fertilizing. Here is a link that might be useful: TheItalian Garden...See MoreBuddha's Hand
Comments (7)It may have been a grafted variety where the rootstock has over taken the Buddha hand. This happened to me once I bought a kaffir lime, grew into a citrus tree that turned out to be the rootstock it was grafted on to. It did bear a couple of nasty citrus fruit after many years. I just tossed the tree out. The other scenario is that you are not taking care of it properly. Citrus trees love sun and need regular applications of high nitrogen citrus fertilizer to bloom and fruit. Please post pics....See Morehobbyartisan (Saskatoon, SK Canada, 2b)
