Hi Again. Here in the aftermarket many of the Hybrid vehicles are just now starting to show up for regular servicing now that many have had their warranties expire. First I have sold NO HV Battery assemblies. If the battery, the inverter, and especially the Prius transaxle has failed people simply trade the car in. I'm still the only shop in the county that has had formal training on these cars, and has invested in the factory scan tools to service them, as well as the rest of each manufactures fleet. Your lost key fob? I could have handled that, but otherwise you would have a 20+ mile one way trip to the nearest dealer. http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2006/10/prius_mileage_1.html Just google "real prius" and you will quickly see a google drop down list that suggests gas mileage. That link above was the first one that came up. Compare that number he quotes to the fact that my 2007 Mustang GT Convertible California Special consistently gets 29mpg with the top down on the highway. Next week I'll be out of town instructing a basic Hybrid class for a well know franchise based chain store. Most of those shops don't allow their techs to get involved with anything more than tires, alignments (one of the special things I have to teach with these cars) and basic fluid services. Anything else and the cars typically require the O.E. scan tool and only the dealers *(mandatory for them), and top shops like mine have stepped up and made the investment in those. Come back in about two years and we will see just how big of an impact these cars are having when the inevitable repairs start multiplying.

Patricia, you say your boyfriend gave you the car? I'm assuming that was before you broke up. Is that correct? You don't think he could have done something like switch the wires on the cruise control where it is always on, do you? Don't mean to scare you but so many people are nutz today anything is possible. Anyway. what you are talking about here is an emergency situation that has to be check out by a mechanic. What I can tell you to do is to see if the cruise control is inadvertently on, as was the case of my mother's car. If that isn't the case you must bring your car in to the shop. And don't be pessimistic. It could be something simple and an easy fix. But you won't know unless you go. Besides, no mechanic is going to start any work unless you approve it. If you can't afford it maybe consider selling the car to someone who can fix it and buying something else. But whatever you do, the last thing you should be doing is driving a car you can't control with you and your children in it. BTW- do you have an honest mechanic you can take it to?

The newer Weed Eater and I had our 2nd 10:00 -2:00 Fight In This Texas Heat. It Won Both Fights And “The Last”. It will be a parts Machine to my older Weed Eater (as much as possible). There is more quality in the Older that I use just to add to Natural Leaf Banks (2-3 times a season “Maybe”). It gave me some good ideas about being able to start with my left arm and hand (due to bottom pull works on left or right side easy). I did spend time on using my drill to start the blower (from the bottom) to realize it w/n be safe and worthwhile and trashed the idea I found the info on the fuel’s Start and Run System to remember I had shared the info. The info is probably on my XP System that I went away from about 2-3 years ago (and Win 7 re-organized some folders). Even with the info and work “The Blower was a challenge and too little Quality for my needs… If I had a true need on my 70’ X 120’ lot I would go with Electric as my Chainsaws (due to seldom use). I have a feeling my 70+ Birthday is telling me something. I still plan to fish “some more” (probably not from my Boat) when I feel stronger and before the Texas Heat. Take Care Friends!
