More blooms and rain

We were blessed with 3 hours of rain yesterday. Suppose to have storm latter this evening but I don't count on it as it was suppose to rain earlier today and we saw not one drop.

So here is what has been blooming for the past couple of days. I really need to start trimming foliage but no energy at this point.

BERMA ABERCROMBIE - was divided in the spring and moved to the back holding area and then replanted in the garden redo bed. I'm sure the move, dividing and replanting has set it back on scape height but she did put up several scapes. Looking forward to seeing more in bloom.

BOSS LADY - short scapes which I expected since our rainfall has been much less than typical. I didn't photo previous blooms because we were busy with our project but she seems to keep pushing out the blooms.

CARNIVAL IN BRAZIL - poor thing barely has a scape. I had removed it for the garden redo but did not get it back in with the others. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can get that done.

LAURA HARWOOD - need I say anything?

EMPEROR'S CHOICE - has been blooming for a week now. Just a great bloomer and increaser. Short scapes this year.

RAMBUNCTIOUS ROSIE - this is the newer one I planted but I can't judge whether it will remain short scaped.

KENTUCKY LUCKY - started blooming today. It is being moved as soon as it finishes blooming. Short scapes this year. Bud count appears to be okay so far.

SUMMERTIME IDYLL - this is an early am photo. Typically by mid afernoon the petals and sepals will roll back. I have this planted in the middle of the back bed and it is crowded by Lori Jones giants so it will be moved to the front when I eliminate something else. It just started blooming here so it should last through most of August.

SELF DETERMINATION - posted previously but this one just keeps pumping out the blooms. In the garden redo bed. It is shorter in scape height than previous years. Both pics are from the same clump but different angles.

Oh, I like that Self Determination. Will have to look that one up. It sure shows up in the clump....Another one that grabs my attention is Carnival in Brazil. Nice pattern, and I like the pop-up Queen Anns Lace next to it.....You have some nice ones blooming now.............Maryl

Self Determination captured my attention the first time you posted it, and even more this time. It looks like a great performing clump. Summertime Idyll looks like a nice late bloomer. My Kentucky Lucky bloomed on shorter scapes this year too, and mine had less than half the bud count it usually has. Carnival in Brazil looks nice with its white companion!

Hi everyone, I'm just getting to responding to you all....so busy! Nat, to answer your question, Incendiary always opens perfect for me. No hanging up ever. This is one of my favorite daylilies. It comes back from the winter nice and big and no loss of fans either. Increase is good and it is a healthy plant. Debra, Moussaka is brand-new from the Netherlands. I like Wheee! - if I see one I may have to add it. I like your basket of kittens too. I always see some many cute little things in pictures posted here but never when I'm out shopping. It's probably a good thing, yet another addiction I'd have to come to terms with eventually. ;)

Thank you Lilyfinch! Crazy Love is a great rose, I think the blooms usually look better than the picture here, but like I said we just had a lot of rain. It has lots of buds on it right now, it’s just getting started. Like almost all my Kordes roses, it’s very healthy. Here’s a picture from last year

I like Summertime Idyll and Self Determination. It's been said here recently that late bloomers that aren't yellow are great, these are two really nice ones. I'm so glad I added some more late bloomers here the past two seasons since rebloom doesn't happen much.

We finally got a good, soaking rain on Sunday, Julia - did you get any of that? I'm up in Saratoga county but I hear some of our western counties didn't get the rain. Hope you did! Still raining today, too, and boy do we need it!

I love Carnival in Brazil. The color is lovely and I like the piecrust edges.

Very nice pic of Carnival in Brazil, and it appears that Self Determination deserved its HM. Yes, these last rains have made a big difference, but of course, they came late. Hope that August is not too dry, as we are headed for more heat.

kitcatclub: No rain on Sunday but yes,a good long rain on Saturday. It seemed the other storms that were suppose to come never did and went south of us. This morning it was misty and after a couple of hours, it has cleared out and the sun once again shining. Suppose to go back to 90's Thursday/Friday. I knew the weatherman would get it wrong about the 90's being behind us.

90s behind you? It's AUGUST. Has he lost his mind?? LOL! Well, good luck, anyway - hope you got some of last night's rain. We got woken up by a boomer at 4:30 this morning (Tuesday), thank you very much. Grrrr.
