Sears has a Kenmore Elite, KitchenAid, and Whirlpool white French-door fridges on their web site. the Kenmore Elite is probably made by LG and the KA and Whirlpool are Whirlpool products. .

I agree as I'm not a fan of stainless either. I'd prefer a color but I settle for black. I did find a decent LG FD with no door dispenser. Not wanting a dispenser limited my choices even further. I really like the LG. AJ Madison website is a good place to see what your limited choices are.

The Goedeker's website comes up with 6 white, counter depth, French door. Hopefully this link works. Not a lot of options, that's for sure.

There are wraps you can get to make your fridge a different color, plus you can make your own. You can also have it painted at the automobile shop.

Just making sure you realize -- it is possible to mix white and stainless. There is no law that says all the appliances have to be the same, but it takes some careful consideration to mix them and pull it off well. Most folks don't, but if you are having a really tough time, it's something to think about.

I just bought a freezer, and I did see more stainless in the tall appliances than anything else. I thought someone came out with a white glass a year or two ago -- is that gone already?

The reviews on the Kenmore are pretty bad and I can't find the spec sheet to confirm it will fit in my opening. The width is 35.75" and my opening is 36" and that's not enough clearance for most models I've looked at. (Edit: I'm in a chat with Sears now and they say it needs 1-2" clearance so this one's off the list.)

lascatx: I don't like stainless, that's why I went with white. I'm curious, though, how you mix them properly. I can't imagine it not looking like someone changed their mind halfway through.

3katz4me: AJ Madison is where I started. :) AFAICT LG now only comes in stainless. Is yours a discontinued model or am I missing it? I would love to get LG. That's my appliance repair guy's recommended brand.

DLM2000: I've never heard of Goedeker, thanks. The KA and Whirlpool are the ones on my list. One of the FPs is too small (30" wide instead of 36") and the other may not have enough clearance in my space. I've emailed them to confirm. I've never heard of Heartland or AGA. They're both too wide (36.5").

sherri1058: Ha. I'm kind of torn on the french doors but we have a side by side now and are likely to move in a few years so this seems like a great opportunity to test out FD so we'll know for certain what we want in our next house. I'm more than happy to hear your opinion on them and what you prefer instead! We're both tall (and our kids are getting there! my 12yo is taller than most of my friends) so some degree of "fridge up top" is a must-have.

I wound up not mixing, but I have white cabinets and did before, so white blends in and stainless contrasts. If your cabinets are a wood tone, that's not really an option.

I count 7 LD French door fridges in white on AJ Madison, in 30, 33 and 36 inch widths. I have an LG in my utility room, but I went with the single upper door for that location. We'e been very happy with it and have recommended them to others. I agree with your service guy -- Whirlpool variants would be a reluctant second (I am still sour over a repair fiasco with them and their service people).

I have white cabinets too. That's a large part of the appeal behind white appliances, they blend in.

There are 7 FD models but only 4 are 36" (smaller would look ridiculous and I need the space) and none are counter depth.

Does it have to be counter depth? Door swing shouldn't be a problem with a French door (but I'm sure you are used to and prefer not to have it sticking out).....

You have silver hardware and trim on your pendants. Stainless wouldn't be terrible. Even if by itself. If the microwave was stainless, then the appliances at eye level would be stainless and the ones below wouldn't be......

Just trying to help. Given the popularity of counter depth fridges, French door fridges, white cabinets and a resurgence of white appliances, I'm really surprised you don't have more options.

And you got the two girls that counter my two boys (look like they are having fun). DH said we should have a girl for the second one because it was 50/50, right? Seems so many people have all or mostly one gender.

Yes, it has to be CD. You can't really tell from that picture but the spot between the fridge and the island is the entry to the kitchen. Bumping the fridge out would both look terrible and create a choke point.

Interesting you mention the microwave. It's been trying to die for a couple of years and I've just been dragging my feet on replacing it (mostly because it's such a PITA to find white!)

We went 3/1...there are two younger kids! I'm happy about the imbalance. The more people who sit to pee the cleaner my bathroom stays. :D

I'm not trying to change your opinions, but if you can't find a white option that works (a built-in could be white, but likely only if you did custom panels -- and that's a huge difference in price plus some changes to your cabinets), what is it you dislike about stainless? The look? The fact that you see it everywhere? (things you can't change) Past experience with fingerprints, smudges or fears of them with 4 kiddos (lucky you to have girls and a boy -- wouldn't trade my guys for anything, but would have enjoyed a girl).

If it's the fingerprint/smudge issue, the finished available today are much better than they used to be, and you can have an easy to clean door. If you get one that is easy to clean, you may actually see less on the door than on a white one. I won't say more unless it is relevant. ;-)

It's just the look. I don't like it, never have. Much like I don't like granite. I'm a kitchen remodelling freak. ;)

I'm not going to spend thousands extra to get white, though. I can use the KA or Whirlpool, I'm just annoyed that I don't have more options.

Bluestar 36" built-in - available in 750+ colors! I mean, it's expensive like built-ins are, - but if you wanted to branch out beyond SS and white...

I have a white counter depth french door Jenn Air. I love it!

I feel your pain. I don't care for stainless either. I don't mind it in a more industrial looking kitchen, but I have a small space and feel like white just looks better in our home! I just posted above about my frustration in trying to find a good convection double-wall oven in white. I have a Samsung French door fridge in white that I love, but it is not counter depth! Of course, my problem is reversed, trying to find white ovens to install next to my white fridge. I don't hate how some of the stainless ovens look, but I feel they would look silly right next to my white refrigerator! Sorry I'm not actually helpful, but I will commiserate.

PS--I don't like granite either. ;-)

I understand. I have mixed feelings about stainless and I dislike more granite than I like. I went with marble (when you had to talk the stone folks into showing it to you and before it was everywhere) and found an acid washed, brushed Cambrian black (no shiny stuff) for my island when I couldn't find soapstone that would work. I'm just surprised there are not more counter depth options for you. KA should be a solid choice though.

I love my jennair black glass fridge. They had one in white too - it was gorgeous! I don't know if they would do it in french door counter depth, but my local appliance store said the glass ones could be special-ordered even if they are not on the web. I didn't pursue it since my fridge is still working, but it's worth asking.

I have a white counter-depth Fisher & Paykel and love it, but it is single door, bottom freezer.

I'd maybe be okay with a single door fridge on top but only if the bottom was a drawer. I loathe bottom freezers otherwise.

The FD F&P I looked at was just barely too wide. Well, I think. F&P hasn't gotten back to me.

I have a single door fridge with the drawer freezer and like it. DH didn't want the lost space with the smaller bins on the split door. MAybe that's something to consider an advantage with the single door? More bin sapce for condients, bottles and such.

You got me curious so I searched AJM. Unfortunately all the white CD full size fridges won't work.

There are two F&Ps that are too narrow (31" instead of 36") and a 10k Viking that's much too tall (84", my opening is 72").

Talk with DH or a contractor about recessing the fridge slightly. You might have the option to (1) turn the studs 90 degrees and gain about 2 inches of depth, or (2) recess that wall into whatever is behind it. Simple removing the baseboard might pick up and inch or two. It would take some time, money, sweat equity and dust, but you would gaine the ability to use a full depth fridge and not have to deal with this again The wall doesn't have to be gorgeously finished behind the fidge, so you don't need to spend a lot of time perfecting it.

This is a finished kitchen with a bathroom on the other side of the wall. I can't move the wall.

I did that on the wall between my kitchen and utility room to push the fridge out of the path rom the side entrance into my house, but we were changing cabinets, so it was part of a bigger project. I'm not sre if it would work for just a section, and I'm sure it wouldn't be the easiest option.

Which led me to search to see what kind of refrigerator wraps you might find out there. There are places that do custom wraps, but there are also some stock choices out there. Wayfair shows some under the category wall decals. Some are displayed on a fridge, but it looks like you could take any of the vinyl panels and ct them to fit the door of the fridge -- average cost $50. Look at Etsy too (they even have one that looks like the empty fridge interior -- but lots of photos and graphics from blossoms to a stairwell, tunnel or hall or even a box of chocolates -- have some fun).

Search for wrap, skins, decal, even saw some under wall mural in door, fridge/refrigerator or wall sizes. You might find a stock option that would either cover stainless doors or make them more appealing to you. If you have a favorite family or vacation photo, you could even have a custom one made. I see a lot of options for $50 give or take a little. Get a scratched door marked down and cover it and you can save more than the cost of the decal/wrap. If you haven't looked, it might be worth a little searching or ideas.

Yeah, we could have done it as part of the remodel but it's not practical to do at this point.

If there were literally nothing else that could fit I would do a wrap but I do have two options at this point so I'll go with one of those. I can't see a wrap holding up. I have four kids and it seems like the alphabet letters would do a number on it! It's certainly a possibility but not the direction I want to go. Thanks for thinking outside the box, though!

I think the wrap will hold up pretty well as long as you get the edges down good. The French door might have more chance of loosening at the center though.

I've seen KA sell refrbished mixers andIs there a market for refrbished larger appliances? Wouldn't that make a lot of sense rather than sending them to landfills?
