Looking for AJ Madison reviews, rants and/or raves...
Comments (48)Bad experience with these AJ Madison, won’t use them again. We purchased an appliance (induction range) and found out before delivery that it wouldn’t work in our apartment. My bad for not understanding this in advance, or for seeing the fine print about the 35% (!) restocking fee hit for canceling the order. But they wouldn’t even work with us to apply a reasonable share of the price we paid to purchase another product from them instead. Just basically told us we’re out of luck. Absolutely their right, and fully disclosed, but seems like really bad business to lose a customer through zero flexibility and understanding. Obviously won’t buy anything from them in the future. Learn the lesson from me: do all your homework, double-check your measurements and installation requirements, and check with your building superintendent before you buy a new appliance. Otherwise, at least with these guys, it will be costly and they will take your money and won’t try to help you out in any way. Thanks for nothing AJ Madison....See MoreKitchenAid built-in refrigerator (long rant)
Comments (9)I'm sorry for your awful (and ongoing?) experience. I ordered a KA French door bottom freezer this summer (along w/a KA microwave) .. it took MONTHs to arrive - thinking it was a problem w/the local small appliance dealer I went to Sears to order the range (an Arch. ll series slide in all gas convec. range). Big Mistake. Ordered on 9/11 .. still has not arrived - and no single minded dealer to go to bat for me- just Sears pretending helplessness in their ongoing corporate posturing w/Whirlpool - WP apparently holds a grudge against Sears for not allowing WP to sell Kenmore parts. Arggghhh .. it's awful to be in the crossfire btwn Whirlpool and Sears. Feel like I'd be jumping from the frying pan into the fire going to Lowes/Best Buy etc (all of which cannot get the range until after Thanksgiving anyway!!!). BTW, the refrigerator and microw. I ordered? Still not installed due to delays w/kitchen renovation .. but that's another (although closely related) problem. :) I'm going to post on this separately ... want to see if anyone on the face of this earth has actually RECEIVED the same sort of range I ordered!...See MoreRant re: our Electrolux undercounter icemaker
Comments (6)hollysprings, It seems as though you feel strongly about icemakers. However, it's obvious we've already purchased and installed said appliance. Clear ice was important enough to my DH that it was a must-have in our build. It's in our bar already. I will say that having it behind the bar making ice is a lot more convenient than lugging in bags of ice constantly. We often do things using a lot of ice...parties, crawfish boils, tailgating, etc. We're aware it's a convenience. I'm sure many people here have things in their homes out of convenience that don't save money and that's just fine. And yes, they are loud. As I stated in my post, I've been in tons of houses with them. This one is much much louder than any I've ever heard in my life, as was confirmed by the repair man. Thus, the post... Stayaloft, thank you for your helpful comments. The repair man did say that Kitchenaid and Whirlpool are quieter because of some kind of buffer the something-or-other is between that Electrolux/U-Line puts in a different spot with no buffer. So that's why it's louder. It IS, in fact, louder. It's nice to know its not just in our heads. Lol! I bet GE Monogram builds it similarly. Thanks!...See MoreTotal remodel 8 yrs ago, and appliance woes since (RANT)
Comments (12)Our kitchen is in this age range, too. - The Elux vent hood filters don't do much for catching grease. When I take them down to wash, I see grease above them. One of the halogens doesn't work...It isn't the bulb, as I've tried changing it. - One Elux fridge flashes an error code, but it must be a sensor, because the fridge continues to work, thankfully. - One Bosch dishwasher ruined our Marmoleum Click flooring, because the racks are so wonky, the bottom one wore a tiny spot in the door gasket that allowed slight and unseen, but constant dripping that eventually made the floor swell. We now have 1 lower end Miele and 1 of the original upper mid-level Bosch dishwashers...The Bosch racks are constantly adjusting themselves and adjustable pieces coming loose. So far the Miele is OK...It's only been in a year, but sometimes the silverware is still dirty after a wash. (That may be user error of some sort.) - The Wolf range top works great, but the black pans are a cleaning nightmare for a family who cooks so much. I came on here today to revive an older cleaning thread on the subject. I am wondering if they could go in the oven during self-clean, or if I could have them sand-blasted and refinished. Ok...maybe I'm a little frustrated and getting a little crazy. But, as I said, it hasn't had any functional problems, so that's appreciated. - Dbl Oven #7 (it's a Gagg, after 2 F&P, 1 Monogram, and 3 Wolf) is 2 yrs old. The probe works, but the readout doesn't always, so it may display a lower temp for a long while the roast is actually almost done. If both ovens are on, the display gets warm and the lights go out. Sometimes I think I turn on the lower oven, and come back and it's not going...So I have to turn it off and back on. The day before Christmas, dd was slow-baking a nut granola in both cavities at 175 for several hours and the whole oven just turned off. Nothing on the display but lines. Turning off the breaker for a bit worked to start it again...for now? After my problems with Wolf, my wonderful salesman threw in a 3 yr extended warranty for this oven. Thank goodness. But I haven't called, because I haven't wanted to face the hassles of repairs and such, and trying to get on-and-off problems diagnosed. - F&P laundry equipment limped along for about 5 yrs with repairs that didn't stick, and is now replaced with Speed Queen. Hoping the lack of electronics and features, and the heavy construction means this set will last and last. We do have an Elux freezer and a 2nd Elux fridge that still work in all ways... Hoping not to jinx that! We tried to buy quality. Yikes. This post was edited by rhome410 on Fri, Jan 9, 15 at 21:27...See MoreDLM2000-GW
