Comments (25)Following up to say I feel SO MUCH BETTER!!! Amazing what drugs can do :). Monday I started taking the meds my GP prescribed-a muscle relaxant and oral steroid. Yesterday I woke up feeling far less pain, so that I could sit and move normally again. Today, I have mobility back without any discomfort. Am going to quit the muscle relaxant, finish the steroids and hope this doesn't happen again ever, or at least for a long, long time. But if it does at least I have some inkling of what causes the pain and how to treat it. What a huge relief to be feeling better. Although, a week of that left me pondering how on earth people manage with severe chronic pain. I had to stay functional but it was so terribly difficult to keep going when every single moment my body was hurting so badly. A bit scary too because nature is reminding me I'm no spring chicken....sciatica, sounds like something a grumpy old lady would have. Oh wait, I guess that's me :). Thanks again to everyone who provided such helpful advice and empathy. Ann...See MoreAre cats any more cooperative when taking pain meds?
Comments (2)Ask your surgeon about the fentanyl pain patch. It's a patch that is applied to the cat's skin and will provide pain relief for up to about 100 hrs before needing to be replaced. Another option is to see if an oral pain med can be compounded into a transdermal gel that can be applied to the inner ear flap. Or you can just use Pill Pockets, which I have found to make administering oral meds quite easy in most cases. From what I learned when researching Somer's mammary cancer, though, the surgical center will typically keep the cat hospitalized for a while after mastectomy surgery specifically for the purpose of providing adequate pain relief. It is, from what I was told, a very painful surgery. Laurie...See MoreI used to love the 4th of July...
Comments (37)We always had them when we were kids. Supervised of course, but with Reservation shops in all 4 directions, the only thing limiting what could be bought was the budget. It's been a lot of years since we've done much with fireworks ourselves. Our city would have a display (not this year) that we didn't even have to go out for, we could view it from above and across the river at the living room windows. Current city restrictions are 9 AM until midnight today only for igniting any kind of fireworks and all the 'good stuff' is banned now. I've been hearing fireworks noises for the last three days though, and off and on all day today....See More- 10 years ago
