Wall mount range hood or under cabinet range hood?
Comments (5)If you look at the Modern-Aire site, they have several shapes where the front tapers at the top to the depth of an upper cabinet, and the sides are straight so as to butt up to, and cover, the yellow cabinet sides you mentioned. Their typical sizes are 18" and 30" high, but you could get a 24" custom one if your budget allows. Or you could get an 18" and have a box made for above it to cover that area and to which you could attach replacement moulding. The box could be made of either wood matching your moulding or sheetrock. Vent-a-hood has a stainless direct replacement if you decide to stick with the same size you now have. I'm attaching the link to the Modern-Aire page that shows their shapes. PS-10, PS-11, and PS-26 all have the characteristics I was talking about above. Comments (0)I'm thinking of getting the Samsung induction range (FTQ307NWGX) - http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/appliances/ranges/electric-ranges/FTQ307NWGX/XAA/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail and would like to also get a wall-mount range hood (hopefully in $400-$650 range). Does anyone know which range hoods will look the same color and shade? Even though the range is stainless-steel, I'm not sure if there are different shades of it that may throw it off. Can I safely buy stainless-steel appliances from different brands or can the shades/contract differ? No store in the area carries the range, but I'll to look around. Also, thinking of getting it from big-georges (http://www.big-georges.com/FTQ307NWGX... as they have good reviews and decent price....[from what I can tell, appliancesconnection.com and homeeverything.com are not to be trusted]. Comments (3)Hi there! I'm not sure where you are located, but our company (we make range hoods) uses Tradewind USA (in Phoenix, AZ) for our liners. They have excellent customer service and have received good reviews from our clients regarding the liners. We typically use their 400 series, and while we also usually install the 1200 CFM liners, they've worked wonderfully. It might be something to look into! The size you'd be looking for in this series is model VSL436622RC, but they're really good about answering questions and finding what works best for you. They ship anywhere. I hope this helps! https://t-wusa.com...See MoreRecommendation for a reliable 30" wall mount range hood under 500 cfm
Comments (2)MUA requirements, based on the IRC, start with blowers rated over 400 CFM. Blower ratings are in free air, and not in a hood system, so such systems will have only 200 -- 300 CFM actual flow rate. If the aromatic cooking involves pan temperatures causing peanut oil to vaporize or smoke, then the flow rate into the hood should be 90 CFM/square foot of hood aperture, perhaps a bit less with induction cooking. So it might be apparent that your hood aperture can only meet the flow rate by being no larger than a few square feet. This will be inadequate to overlap the rising and expanding cooking plumes possible from all burners on most ranges and cooktops. And we haven't even addressed reliability yet, although this tends to be an issue with inexpensive hoods with pretensions to electronic grandeur, where simple controls would be fine. Note that there is always make-up air, and it exactly equals the amount of air that flows out of the hood system. Even without safety considerations, or code considerations, if you want to operate the hood system at its best performance level, natural MUA due to house leakage should be supplemented, even if it requires only a duct and damper into some part of the house, unless the house is extremely leaky or your environment allows for normally open windows....See Morelnm2016
