Name That Plant!

Grows in my backyard in Chicago, IL. The property is a city lot. I have watched this plant re-sprout for three consecutive years, and have never seen it flower. It does not spread rhizominously, but does enjoy moderate recruitment success to other areas of my backyard. The plant is 2.5-3' tall and about 1' wide. There is no noticeable scent to the leaves, and the one noticeable insect association is a type of weavil that enjoys the leaves (the swirl patterns it leaves can be seen on the leafs).

I had to look up "agapanthus," as that was not a name I'm familiar with. I'm familiar with the common name, 'Lily of the Nile' though. You're right, it does resemble one. The only thing I notice that may be different is that the leaves are thinner than I'm used to seeing on a 'Lily of the Nile.' They're resemble the thickness of a Dwarf Daylily than the 'Lily of the Nile' I used to have. Sorry, the leaves do look rather wide in the picture, but they're really not. Are there 'Lily of the Nile' plants that have narrow leaves? Maybe the one I used to have was just a monster lol. I guess I should have waited for a bloom to ask, eh? Planto

I would guess Ageratina altissima, white snakeroot.

Looks like leaf miners.

Thanks Carol. I'm looking into it to confirm. You don't happen to know of any invasive plants that look similar, do you? As far as I'm concerned, if this fella is Ageratina, then he has a home. If he's invasive, he's gone.
