Comments (8)Ditto what everyone else has said, I wouldn't be without one. You can also use it to make small batches of whipped cream. Great for those times when you just need a couple of servings and don't want to haul out the stand mixer. Saw a helpful note in Cooks Illustrated a few days ago that suggested dipping it in a small container of soapy water and giving it a pulse or two for easy cleaning. Kind of obvious, but somehow I hadn't thought of it before....See MoreImmersion blenders--what's worthwhile, what's needless expense?
Comments (22)I have the KA with all the attachments, and I have to say that for me, it's just okay. It's certainly powerful and reliable and all that, but there are certain things about the attachments that don't suit me, but may not be an issue for you. For instance, the blade in the chopper has a fairly high clearance from the floor of the container, so it's not much good for nuts or herbs or other small items. I don't love mine nearly as much as I had expected to do, but a lot of that is just because of the way I cook. I don't make many thick soups, for instance, so while it's splendid for those as others here have said, that doesn't matter much to me. I think I only paid about $69 for mine from amazon, though--KA regularly has a biggish discount once or twice a year (usually after the holidays, alas), and then there was some kind of limited time amazon special running, too. But they are often available for less than retail, although never during holiday gift season....See MoreImmersion blenders, anyone?
Comments (24)I really would like one which has an on switch that doesn't need holding in while using Well, you know, I can't help but guess that for the most part those have more powerful motors, since they know you can't hold on long enough to burn them out. I would expect an on/off switch motor to be correspondingly less powerful since you could let it run for a very long time....See MoreRecommendations for non-fancy immersion blender
Comments (17)I don't trust bad reviews that much. Given that fact that users with good experience don't write good reviews as often as users with bad experience writing bad reviews. If blender X sells at $30 each, they can sell 100,000 units there will be many bad ones proportional to 100,000 units. If the same blender X is sold at $ 150 each, they can only sell 1000 units, there will be many fewer bad ones sold and fewer bad reviews. Same identical blender. Whoever sells blender X at $150 each will be very happy to send you free replacements and get good reviews for good customer service. I bought a hand blender for $35. 300 Watts of power with 23,000 RPM speed. I refuse to pay $200 for a Bamix at 150 Watts of power with 14,000 RPM speed. dcarch...See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
