hey Bubba, welcome to the forum. I think you have an interesting site for your vines. Hope you have an outstanding crop! You might need to do a soil test and mow it once before you plant, but you won't know if you don't try. With the right growing conditions, you shouldn't have to worry about the weeds while the vines are growing. They will cover and smother most of the grasses and weeds that get in their way. A few years ago, we let a few weeds grow tall in our patch and the vines mistook them for a trellis and grew right up the weeds. Visit the forums often so we can keep up with your patch progress. I like them too. We had some nest on the back of the farm several years ago, they completely demolished a sweet corn patch. We gave up the corn for the fun of watching the little birds hatch and grow. it's my understanding that they are legal to hunt in some states, I guess there are big populations in some spots. I have a friend who calls them "ribeye of the sky". He was amazed that we had such fun watching them. There are quite a few of them in southern Michigan by Elery's, there's even a winery called "Sandhill Crane Vineyards". We went to Lowe's one day for paint and there were a couple standing right under a tree in the parking lot, just watching people come and go, so I'm thinking they're either curious or not so smart. (grin) Cathy, I'm glad I'm not the only one who moves turtles. The girls used to call it "turtle patrol". We'd be driving along and I'd pull over and yell "turtle patrol". The girls would bail out and (while watching for traffic) move the turtle. I was told by a DNR officer to always put them on the side of the road in the direction they were heading or they'd just turn around and go right back. My cookies never turn out either. I do everything right and yet they don't really taste that good. I don't think store bought ones do either with some of them being truly awful. They seem tasteless or are greasy to the point of being gross. I like crispy cookies not cake like cookies best. I think it's because ingredients have changed. Flour isn't really the flour we grew up with anymore and who knows what else. Nothing seems to taste the same as back in the day. I get discouraged spending time making things using up a week's calories and not even really enjoying it that muchâ¦boo hoo I will try that recipe you posted lc. Linelle, your kitty is so adorable. It looks like he/she is concentrating on how to get one of those cookies back to a safe place!

I forgot to bring anything to work with me today for lunch and naturally, I was starving just because my mind was reminding me that I didn't have anything. It's so darned hot here today and traffic is so bad, that I just wasn't otivated to go out. So, I looked in the freezer here at work and found a single serving Red Baron deep dish pepperoni pizza that I stuck in the microwave. Not what I wanted but it was better than going out in 95 degree weather. Plus...I still have money in my pocket...lol!!!
