The Drosera capillaris I have grown looked more like Drosera spatulata to me. They grew overlapping leaves and about the same size as a D. spatulata, but with less reddening and wider petioles. At least the ones I had looked like that. The problem I had with the identification is the book I got the pic from only depicted the plant from the top, and a D. anglica from the top looks kind of like a D. intermedia in an old black and white photo. After looking at the written description and petiolarisi's pics, it is obvious the D. anglica is a much larger plant with longer trap surfaces and more upright petioles. I think petiolaris has positively IDed the ones depicted by don555 as D. intermedia and their size indicates that they probably are the Cuban variety since 30mm is the exact size the adult Cuban D. intermedias get. Since we are not sure about the Venezuelans, then at least they can both be raised as tropicals, so no harm done either way.

I keep mine in a 50\50 cs,perlite mix and they are doing well,except a lighting issue, also have a kalanchoe in straight cactus soil and is one of the best looking plants in the house but has to be watered carefully. I'm still learning so I prob shouldn't be offering advice, but when I'm wrong I'll be corrected multiple times which is how I'll continue to learn and that's never a bad thing..enjoy your new plants!!! Agree with Matt, leaves look rotting but are also sunburned. Rot wasn't visible in other photos. Many of the leaves are sunburned toward the tips... I wouldn't worry much about looking for turface and/or bark unless they are easily found. I went thru all of that (as many others did); found turface but not too lucky with bark (lots available, but is too large - 2" and bigger). So I settled for mix I use, with ingredients I mentioned in previous post (including photo I posted). BTW, I have read all posts by Al. I am very strong 'believer' ...but if you understand principle, you can make excellent mix using materials easily available, without going crazy looking for exactly the same...For example: Al's recipe doesn't call for perlite. But knowing perlites water holding capacity, one can figure out what it is good for and use it as a substitute for substrate not so easily found. There are many other substrates that are excellent if used in making well draining mix.

More pictures ...showing every thing...the rug goes with the tv and console...maybe there is something else to add to make a cohesive grouping....the layout can be altered ....putting the desk and those pieces on another wall....you may need to move to a more eclectic feel ...I always think if you chose all the pieces there is some common aesthetic that can be found in each piece..
